Example questions for the Foundation Stage coordinator or the manager of the preschool
setting to determine the function and general orientation (e.g. formative, summative) of the
assessment tools applied in the setting.
1. What types of assessment (e.g. formative, summative) are used in the foundation stage and
in which areas of learning do these assessments take place?
My MST do the formative assessment during the class, she observe the children work and
she ask them about the activity they done. On the other hand, she do the summative
assessment in the end of the year by give them a sample taste to see how they
development during whole semester.
2. How are assessments made e.g. via observations of children engaged in everyday activities
initiated by the child or on teacher initiated tasks / tests?
The teacher assessment the children by observe them in every day especially when they
do the activity. Also, in the last day of the week she made a small test to see if they
identify the whole lesson.
3. When are assessments scheduled e.g. continuously or at specific points in the academic
year?
Most of assessment in the end of the week and other in the end of the year, she made a profile
for each child and adds all things they did in the whole year.
4. Who is involved in implementing and recording assessments e.g. teachers, teaching
assistants, children, parents?
Teacher and children are involved in assessment plus parents they can see the evaluation
of the children work to know their children level.
5. How are assessments moderated across the setting?
The teacher is looking for assessment and find out of how to let child be better.
6. What form does this take e.g. computer generated profiles, mixed media profiles, written
reports, learning stories or a combination of forms?
Its a checkless, the teacher but names of all children and she observe what they do
then put notes on the student's name
7. How are the results of these assessments documented and communicated to parents,
teachers and other stakeholders?
The teacher documents the children work by take photo. Also she document by make a
profile for each child and show their parents.
8. What support is provided by the school and/or curriculum in terms of specific, measurable
assessment criteria e.g. sample assessments or vignettes that provide a contextualized
example of the attainment of a specific goal or objective?
They provide an assessment such as checkless, and in the end of the semester they do a small
exam.
