ABSTRACT

In the current business functions, an especially rental resource is one of the main
challenging part. So that, utilizing the resources that are implemented by the companies. The
business processes are the major task according to the project budget as well as time limitation. So
that software solutions those managing and controlling the functions has to be analyzed in a proper
way to obtain the successful use of them. The report illustrate about the project that analyses the
problem of renting and how to gain the solution for those procedures. Video rental and sales is a
complete software solution for controlling and managing rentals of customers. This research is all
about controlling and managing resources for everyday rentals. Based on the client needs the
resources could be rented. An excellent desktop application has been processed and implemented
in order to manage that resource that is currently used by the video rental system. This system
solution has been implemented using the technologies of front-end Microsoft visual basic and back
end SQL Server.

INTRODUCTION

It is private organization, contains different types of films categorized based on the country
they produced and the information they give to the people such as Amharic, India, America,
Romantics, Action, Adventure, Karate , Hoarer and the like. Every activities of this private
organization are controlled by the owner of the organization. He managed the overall activities of
this private organization based on applications.

STATEMENT OF THE PROBLEM

This organization performs different tasks manually by recording rent data, film type, rent day,
rent money date of released and other informations that used to perform different tasks. This
system performing tasks manually and hence raises different problems in different perspectives
from these:

File may not store permanently

Take more time to perform
Different types of films cannot get easily
Difficult to count films based on their type

MOTIVATION
As a computer stream students, we wish to design and develop a software system to a company
with using software engineering techniques. In our country many of the companies not
computerized their business so far. Because there is shortage for software developers and lack of
knowledge to computerized their company business operations. Therefor we selecting this project
in order to gain such kind of experience through. After complete our project these experiences will
help us to fulfill an excellent job.

OBJECTIVE OF THE PROJECT

4.1 General objective

The general objective of the project is to develop or facilitate services of video cd rental
management system with automated method or computerized method.
[Type here]

4.2 Specific Objectives

The specific objective is designed to provide the following basic tasks:

To store film files permanently

To give fast and effective service for customers
To satisfy customers more
To searching films in different criteria

SIGNIFICANCE OF THE SYSTEM

The newly created computer is in place the subsequent benefits will be:

Improved work process

Reduced work load
Improved the working interest of employees.

SCOPE OF THE PROJECT

5.1. Scope
The scope of the project is to study the existing manual system, analyze the problem and
implement the better solution, applicable computerized system. The system is designed to provide
the following basic tasks:

Films stored permanently

Add newly arrived films
Delete unwanted films
Searching films by different criterias(action, romantic, hoarer, etc)

METHODOLOGY
In order to achieve the above objectives, the following methodologies are employed.

7.1 System development methodology

The system will be developed using object oriented system analysis and designed techniques.
After the complete of the system analysis and design the development methodology will be
commenced. The system will be developed using VB2015 programming language at the fore end
SQL 2014 for data base at the back end.

5
Since it has GUI doing with it is simple and easy
Programming in VB is a combination of visually arranging components or controls on a
form
It is quick to develop new programs.
Because of its popularity there are many resources available to the user - websites are
numerous and books are plentiful for the programmer needing help.
we use SQL 2014 for back end because of the following reasons:
SQL 2014 is an ideal solution for relatively datasets and a limited number of users. So
our project is done for single user and it is simple private organization.
For relatively small data sets SQL works very well for providing flexible information
retrieval.
EDRAW software
we used this software to draw different UML (Unified Modeling Language) that
are necessary to structure the system design.
Microsoft word software
This is used to write documentation of the proposed system from the starting to the
end of the project.

7.3 Data Collection methodology

The necessary information was conducted by:
Observing the organization (primary method)
By watching the owner how they do and what are the resources or materials they used to perform
their recording task currently.
Interviewing (supplementary method)
The additional data would be gathered through the technique of interview, through this different
informations from the current owners of the pre organization.
Document analysis(Observing the organization work processes )
I see all written documents that are available in the video which are necessary for my system.

FEASIBILTY ANALYSIS

8.1. Economic feasibility

The purpose of assessing economic feasibility is to identify the financial benefit and cost
association with the development projects economic feasibility is often referring to us cost benefit
analysis.
Here we have stated the costs related to the project and the project benefits that are going to be
gained after the completion of the project by performing a cost-benefit analysis.
Lets start from the costs by classifying them in to tangible and intangible.

8.1.1. Benefits
After the newly created computerized systems in place the subsequent benefits will be:

[Link]. Tangible benefits

Elimination of paper work
Faster service time
Improved work process
Reduced work load
Improved the working interest of customers
Increase sales
Most importantly, increase in profit

[Link]. Intangible Benefits

Reduction in customer complaints
Better decision making
Improved resource management
Improved customer service
Increase control ability
Proper account management

7
8.2. Costs

8.2.1. Tangible cost

Table 1: Tangible Cost
NO ITEMS UNIT UNIT PRICE
1 desktop 1 8500
2 Flash(16 GB) 1 250
5 Antivirus 1 20
Total of price 8770

8.2.2. Intangible cost

Employee adaption to new system
Employee response to new technology

8.3. Technical Feasibility

Technical feasibility is assessment of the development organization ability to construct the
proposed system. In terms of hardware resource and some of hard ware are available in fact need
to acquire the following recourses. The technical feasibility analysis, what the technical resources
are available in the system, and what are the technical resources are need for the new computerized
the system.
Available technical resource:
They have limited technical resources. Earlier they have done all operations
manually so they didn't need any technical resources. When they have work with computerized
system they must need some all the relevant technical resources and the trained staffs. Following
resources are needed in order to develop the system.
Computers
Processor: Pentium 2.2GHz or more
Hard drive: 40GB or More.
RAM: 512MB or more.
CD-ROM drive.

8.4. Operational Facility

Owners of this private organization cooperate for the full automation of the system and I gave me
full information about this organization and tasks undertaken in the organization. It indicates that
the system is operationally feasible.

TIME SCHEDULE
The project has four different components

Project proposal: this part is describe about the project that knows how the project can be
done and what requirements are used for this project and it is description about the whole
the project shortly. This takes three weeks time.
System analysis: This analyze part, the problems and objectives were identified
and the user requirements for the project. It takes two weeks time.
Design: Based on the user requirements this part focuses on the system design. It could be
divided in to two main parts. It takes two weeks time.
Coding (implementation): The implementation section will show how section
implemented. This takes two weeks time.
Testing: In this testing part, two testing types took place. First, is unit testing and second
is Acceptance testing in order to find out errors and solve the errors. This takes one week
time.
Documentation: the documentation contain everything that include on the project even
the screenshot of the result and sample codes used for the implementation are included.
This takes two weeks time.

COCLUSION
This project could be judge a successful project because according to the software engineering
tools and technologies has been applied during the development time and this project meets all its
client requirements and Specification. There for this Project could consider as a good project. The
development methodology was waterfall method; this development method was very support to
me to implement the project with limited time duration.

This waterfall method that I have used, help me to work out for small development life cycles. In
addition, these methods help me to correct the system errors, which found the earlier stages.
Advanced the usage of the prototype allowed us to implement a functional model of the video
rental system. Therefore the user rechecked the requirements of the rental system when was the
prototype was implemented.
