Beam Stress and Load Analysis Guide

The document provides instructions for calculating stresses and forces in two beam problems. For the first beam, it asks to determine the maximum flexure stress, shear stress at a section 2 ft from the free end, flexure and shear stresses at a fiber 2 in from the top, total tensile force, and tensile force in the bottom flange. For the second problem, it asks to determine the maximum value of P for a compound beam carrying two uniformly distributed loads and one varying load, given stress limits.

1) For the beam shown, determine the ff.

At a section 2 ft from the free end,

a) Maximum Flexure stress and Shear stress
b) Flexure stress and shear stress at a fiber 2 in from the top of the beams cross section
c) Total tensile force
d) Tensile force in the bottom flange

2) A compound beam with an internal hinge at D carries two uniformly distributed loads
having total load of 40P and 90P, and a uniformly varying load having a total load of 30P.
Determine the maximum value of P if t 4000 psi, c 10000 psi, and 7000 psi.
