Dear Director,
We are very pleased to invite you to our seventh annual Scholastic Marching Band
Competition! The competition will be hosted in our beautiful DeWitt High School Panther
Stadium on Saturday, October 16, 2010. One of the great things about this invitational is the
awards ceremony at the end of the evening recognizing all groups (Class D -AA) in front of a
large and appreciative audience. In order to maintain this uniqueness we will be limiting entries
to 20 total groups this year.
Our competition is open to all marching bands wishing to showcase their musical and marching
performance. We will be following the Michigan Scholastic Rules format which has proven to be
a very successful model for feedback to all areas of your marching unit. For our show we are
encouraging any band who wishes to attend for “feedback only” to join us as well and march in
exhibition (no placements/ratings/caption awards, but you will receive complete judging
feedback)!
Classification will be determined as follows:
Average Grade Enrollment
Class AA 400 & above Class A 250-399
Class B 150-249.9 Class C 90-149.9
Class D 0-89.9
Each band will receive numerical placement within their division. A video tape will be provided
to each group after performance. Caption awards for the show will include Best Percussion,
Best Color Guard, Best Music, Best Drum Major, Best Marching. Special recognition will be
given to the Grand Champion Band. Four judges will be used to determine caption awards.
Entry fee for each participating group will be $150. Please make checks payable to DeWitt
High School Band. Please complete your application early (including publicity form and entry
fee) to secure your spot in the competition. Send all information to the address listed above.
Application Deadline is Monday, September 13, 2010.
