UP PCS Pre Exam Syllabus 2017
Pattern of Examination
The pattern of the examination is objective type. The Exam consists of two
papers Paper 1 which is General Studies and Paper 2 which is CSAT ( an
aptitude Test )
Note
Second Paper ( CSAT ) is qualifying in nature and marks wont be countd
for selection for Mains
Only Paper 1 marks will be counted for Selection for Mains

The Syllabus of UPPSC Prelims Paper 1 is largely based on Syllabus of
UPSC Examination Prelims.

Syllabus of UPPSC Prelims Paper 2
UPPSC also changed the exam pattern copying the changes made by UPSC.
It introduced the CSAT Paper which has below 8 components.
In 2015, UPSC declared that Prelims Paper 2 ( CSAT ) will be qualifying in
nature with minimum 33% to be secured by the candidates. UPPSC also
followed the trend and now CSAT Paper of UPPSC is also qualifying in nature.
Below is the syllabus of UPPSC Paper 2 Syllabus.

Approach / Strategy
The UPPCS Exam is one of the coveted exams of state Uttar Pradesh and
level of competition is very high as compared to other state PCS exams in
India. A candidate must have some strategy while he/she is preparing for
UPPCS Prelims Exam which will help them to crack the exam.
Here, we have suggested some of the prominent strategies a candidate
should adopt during their preparation for UPPCS Prelims Exam:
1. Reading and understanding the detailed Syllabus for UPPCS Prelims
Exam 2016 is one of the key factors to qualify UPPCS Prelims Exam.
Simultaneously, analysing dierent sections of the syllabus is necessary to
fully understand the requirements of the UPPCS Prelims Exam.
2. Go through the Previous Year Question Papers of UPPCS Prelims
Exam to figure out the nature, quality and diculty level of questions. It is
necessary to know the nature of questions asked so as to keep the
preparation on track and avoid irrelevant topics and items.
3. Rather choosing multiple text books prefer one text book and revise it
properly for each section which will enhance your strength on particular

4. For the Current Aairs sections stick to the standard daily News Papers
and try to prepare notes on the policies and development works of current
central government and UP government as well.
5. Go through the Historical and Geographical back ground and also study
the culture, regional languages, fairs and festival of the state of Uttar Pradesh.
6. Practice as many objective questions as you can from previous year
question papers and other practice papers. This is significant as it helps
candidates to revise as well as cover many left-out topics. Study Material for
IAS Prelims Exam will also be useful for the UPPCS Prelims Exam.
