Concurrent Forces: Problems and Solutions

1. The document provides 6 multi-part physics problems involving forces, torques, work, and power. It includes diagrams of levers, inclined planes, and objects in motion. Readers are asked to calculate magnitudes, directions, tensions, forces, work and power based on given weights, masses, speeds, distances, and time periods.

2 . (a) A beam of weight 220 N is supported by two chains AB and AC as shown
in Figure 2. Determine the tension in the chains AB and AC necessary to
support the weight.

2. (b) Will the tension in the two chains be equal if the they are equally inclined
to the horizontal? Justify your answer.

3. A cement block of weight 300N is pulled along an inclined plane of a
workshop as shown in Figure 3. The inclination of the plane to the horizontal
is 300. Find the force required to pull it parallel to the plane, if the coefficient
of friction between the block and the surface is 0.25.

5. A lift is used to move 8 passengers from the first floor of a department store
to the second. The second floor is located 5m above the first floor. The
average passenger mass is 60Kg. Determine the work done by the lift to
