Computer Aided Design (CAD)

Objectives:
Learning concepts of CAD through SolidWorks lectures and demonstrations
Modeling mechanical components and drawings through using SolidWorks 2007

SolidWorks 2007:
SolidWorks 2007 system can be started by selecting Windows XP menu:
Start -> Programs -> SolidWorks 2007 -> SolidWorks 2007

Requirements:
(1) SolidWorks 2007 Part Modeling (30 Minutes)
Complete the SolidWorks 2007 tutorial Lesson 1: Parts
(2) SolidWorks 2007 Assembly Modeling (45 Minutes)
Complete the SolidWorks 2007 tutorial Lesson 2: Assemblies
(3) SolidWorks 2007 Drawing Modeling (15 Minutes)
Complete the SolidWorks 2007 tutorial Lesson 3: Drawings

Project:
Model a mechanical part shown in the following figure. Create a 2-D drawing of this part. Create
multiple views of this part, including top view, front view, right view, and isometric view, in the
drawing. Define all the dimensions in the drawing. Give your name, your student ID number, and
your group number in the title box. Print the drawing with multiple views.
Submit the 2-D drawing with multiple views.
Due date of project submission: 12:00 pm on September 21, 2007
Location of homework drop-off box: third floor, Mechanical Engineering Building
