3D Modeling with CATIA V5 Guide

The document describes an experiment in CATIA V5 R19 to draw a 3D model from given dimensions. Key steps included: 1) Sketching the side view profile from the origin point and applying dimensions and constraints. 2) Using the sketch as a base feature and adding a 34mm pad thickness to create the part model. 3) Adding a 9mm stiffener at the center and chamfering bottom edges at 450 with 5mm inclination. The goal was to successfully produce the given constrained 3D model in the sketcher and part modules.

DATE:

EXPERIMENT NO.:10

Aim:
To draw the given 3-D model using part module with the given dimensions as shown in
fig.
Software used:
CATIA V5 R 19.
Tools & machinery required:
Profile tools, Operation tools, Constrained tools, Sketch base features tools.
Procedure:
1. Open CATIA work bench by double click on CATIA short cut icon on desktop.
2. Go to start on left top of CATIA window > Mechanical design > sketcher > select any one
of the plane namely, front (ZX) > then click on sketch tool icon.
3. Draw the side view of profile that, similar to that of given model from the origin point.
4. By using constrained tool bar icon give the dimensions to the drawn profile and make it
constrained successfully to turn into green color.
5. Now click on exit work bench icon. To enter into part module from the sketcher.
6. Now click on PAD tool in sketch base features and give thickness of 34 mm. and hit OK
button.
7. Then select the side face and create a stiffener with 9mm thickness at the center of the
structure as shown in the figure.
8. Chamfer the bottom face edges with an inclined length of 5mm with 450 angle.
9. Hence the required 3-D model is obtained in part module.
Precautions:
1. The diagram produced must be completely constrained (i.e. it should be in green color).
2. Model should not be over constrained (i.e. it should not turn into pink or red color).
Result:
The given model is successfully produced and constrained as shown in fig. in Sketcher
module using CATIA software.
