A NOTE FROM THE DIRECTORS
This project has been the best way to end my first year at UC San Diego. It has been inspiring
directing again, and I am so thankful to everyone in the cast for their openness and hard work these
last 6 weeks. I couldnt imagine doing this with anyone but Gina. Thank you for diving into this with me
with so much heart and dedication. You have been a wonderful co-director and an even better friend.
Thank you all for coming out tonight and supporting our work. Today, with the suppression of
the arts by those who are meant to be our leaders, it is becoming more vital than ever to use our
resources and voices to make our own projects. As artists, we have a responsibility to the act of
empathy; to challenge everything we know in order to extract the humanity. Theatre is so powerful. I
have seen it shape culture, share ideas, and make people think differently and feel deeply. It is
reflective, and comedy is comedy because we see the truth in it.
It is such a privilege to be an artist, and it was a privilege to work with such great people on such a fun
show. I hope we make you all laugh tonight. Cheers.

I knew that I wanted to end my last year at UCSD with a lot of theatre, a lot of friends, and a lot
of laughter. I thought back to my junior year of high school when we did a production of Rumors. It was
probably one of my happiest high school memories (even though literally six people came to one of the
shows. Its fine Im not bitter about it). I still had the best time with some of my best friends and I knew it
was a really special show.
I got to thinking about what I wanted to do with my last quarter, and when I thought about my
friends, their personalities all lined up so beautifully with the characters Neil Simon wrote into this
show. So, I thought back and figured if this show brought me so much joy in high school, then certainly
it could bring even more people the same joy in college.
This experience has challenged me in so many ways I could never have imagined, but I am so
grateful to all of my friends for giving me days filled with laughter and art. I couldnt have asked for a
better group of people to evade police authorities with, and I hope you all feel the same!
To my partner in crime, Colette you truly have no idea how much you have come to mean to
me. Your constant support in this artistic endeavor but also in my personal life has been nothing short
of the most crucial part of getting me through my last quarter. I would walk all the way from Sugarman
for you any time.

Gina Maria Cioffi (Chris Gorman) is a third year theatre major at UC
