English Lesson Reflection: CVC -ot Words

The fifth lesson taught by Ayesha Hassan focused on CVC word families ending in -ot. The goal was for students to recognize and use words with the -ot sound, which Ayesha believes was achieved. One strength was allowing students to read independently to strengthen their skills. An engaging mystery bag activity kept students curious. However, Ayesha disliked being restricted to having students work in their books, as they got bored and restless, when she wanted to do a more interesting activity to better assess understanding.

Reflection 5

Couse: EPC-2903
Course Teacher: Antoinette Wiseman
Done By: Ayesha Hassan
The fifth lesson I taught was an English lesson about CVC word

families -ot. My outcome was that students would recognize and use

words with the -ot sound. I achieved my outcome in the lesson I taught.

One strength in my lesson was that I gave students the opportunity

to try reading by themselves instead of reading about them. It would

strengthen their reading skills. After that, I did the mystery bag activity

which made the students very engaged because they were very curious

to know what is inside.

The thing I didnt like in my lesson is that I needed to restrict to the

teachers instruction which said that I needed to solve the books with the

students. The students didnt like working on their books, and they

started moving around because they were bored from their books. I

wanted to make an interesting activity which would show me that

students understand better but I couldnt because the teacher gave me

the lesson the same day and told me that I would teach the next period. `
