Building a Floating City in the Maldives

1. A country may need to build a floating city due to limited land from population growth and risks of rising sea levels from climate change. 2. To build a floating city, a country would need money, manpower, a method, materials, and machines to plan the project. Contractors would then construct it using large tankers as the foundation, assembling parts in a floating dock and combining halves together, taking over 7,700 years to complete with one person working. The completed foundation can carry a load equivalent to 1,920 whales.

FLOATING CITY

1. Why does a country need to build a floating city?

I think a country need to build a floating city because the country has a vast
ocean while the land is not so wide, but every year the population is
increasing.
Also rising sea levels increasing effects of climate change are higher, so with
the floating city, fears of rising sea levels can be resolved.

2. Describe how to build a floating city (use words we reviewed last week)

Owner side :
For the first time, A country need to 5 M.
1. Money, 2. Man, 3. Method, 4. Materials, and 5. Machine
Then a country can plan the ideas to the planning consultant, but probably not
all of the planning consultant can realize the ideas.
After the planning consultant plan then idea, a country can hold a tender. (in
other condition a country can choose a contractor as well as a planning
consultant)
And then the contractor start to build the project, and it will take a long time to
build a floating city.
Finally after the contractor finish it, a country have a dream project. That is a
floating city.

Contractor side :
Based on the concept of the foundation is to merge two large tankers are stiff,
with a slot in arc to lift the platform intact
For the first time the boat was built by parts in the giant floating dock in the
port.
Blocks ship pre-assembled and then combined to make two half-hull in the
floating dock.
It took 16 million hours to build this ship as a floating city foundation, if one
person working 40 hours a week would take nearly 7700 years to complete it.
Double hull so great that it had to be towed to the new site to be splice
together. To built the ship as its foundation requires funds amounting to $1.3bn
Finally after the ship finish it has a very wide deck capable of carrying a load
of 365000 tonnes equivalent to 1920 whale. But I think it cant build the high
rise building.

*This theory is only used if the grounding of the floating city using 2 large
tankers.
