Core Reflection
During my senior year, I completed a course entitled World Literature. In this course, I
read fictional pieces of literature from around the world. I responded to poems, myths, and
narratives from regions like Greece, Africa, and Native America. I feel that I struggled most with
interpreting the hidden meanings behind poetry. I was satisfied in knowing that I was already
familiar with much of the literature in the course. From World Literature, I learned that I am a
very cultured person and that I am more familiar with other cultures than many people.
After taking World Literature, I can say that I am proud with my performance in this
class. However, I would like to improve on my analytical skills with pieces of work that contain
connotative meanings. It is a valuable skill to be able to understand and interpret hidden
meanings within writing. I feel that my performance in this class shows that I am prepared for
college because I am able to display my written comprehensive skills.
