meals of their own and sharing them to the class.

b) animals and plants; c) minerals, rocks, ores, and energy sources; and d)
forests, soil, and land. Using the Popplet tool, students will get into 4
groups and create a presentation to teach the other classmates about
their assigned topics.

SOL 6.5 The student will read and demonstrate comprehension of a variety
of fictional texts, narrative nonfiction, and poetry. a) Identify the elements of
narrative structure, including setting, character, plot, conflict, and theme. b)
Make, confirm, and revise predictions. c) Describe how word choice and
imagery contribute to the meaning of a text. d) Describe cause and effect
relationships and their impact on plot. f) Use information in the text to draw
conclusions and make inferences. g) Explain how character and plot
development are used in a selection to support a central conflict or story

Using the Popplet tool, students will first by themselves pick a part in
the story that gives them imagery, and then come together to
collaborate and bring their imageries to life.

Next select an image that goes with your story or poem, then click the
lightning bolt on the picture and select which form of writing you would
like to make
Now you can begin to add words and pictures
If you select the longform book, it allows you to add more words, pictures,
and breaks. Once finished hit publish and begin another
If you create a picture book, it allows you to make pages with different
pictures and words
If making a poem, it allows you to pick ONE picture where you can then
drag and drop words on the page
If you want to add a collaborator, select OPTIONS and then click
INVITE COLLABORATOR and then type in all the team members
names
Once finished with everything you may publish it to the public or just to
yourself and whoever you may give permission too (Teacher, Parent, etc.)

tool can be used groups of THREE students and create a story together. They will be given a
in PK-12 general topic, but can go anywhere from there with their stories. They will
be given the chance to create TWO pre-writes (Brainstorm and Rough
Draft) that they will work on together and then I will edit and give feedback.
If working in school on laptops, each student will have their own, but will
be sitting in their groups so they have the chance to talk about what they are
doing as they go along.

SOL 4.7 (Student will write cohesively for a variety of purposesUtilize

elements of style, including word choice and sentence variation) Students
will create their own free verse poem with no word limit. They will pick an
image of their choice and write the poem on that image they have chosen.
Since Storybird pre-loads words the students will be able to pick from there.
If they need a different word they must hit REFRESH at the bottom in the
corner to get different words. To incorporate collaboration, students will
peer-review (editing). They will be paired up in groups of two and should
invite that person into their Storybird and let them edit and give suggestions.

SOL DE.1 (Student will demonstrate an understanding of Virginia traffic

laws, licensing procedures and other responsibilities associated with the
driving privilegeresponsibilities at a crash scene) Using Storybird,
students will make a picture book telling a story/scenario of what can go
wrong at a crash scene, or what to do at a crash scene. It should have plenty
of detail and will be collaborated with one other student. Once they have
finished, students will then go to the front and present their picture books to
the class.
Positives and Positives: 1) 3 different mediums (Longform book, picture book, and a
