Turbidity Reduction with Alum Dosage

The document summarizes data from an experiment testing the effect of different volumes of alum on water turbidity and clarity. It shows that adding 3 ml of alum was optimal, as it caused particles to clump together and separate out of the water, making it very clear, while higher or lower volumes were less effective at reducing turbidity.

0mL of alum added, lake water is cloudy and impurities can be

observed.
1 ml of alum added, the water is still cloudy but some small particles are clump
together and form large white aggregates that separated from the water.

3 ml of alumn added, small particles are clump together and form large white
aggregates that separated from the water. The water is very clear. (optimum)
5 ml of alumn added, small particles are clump together and form large white
aggregates that separated from the water but the water is not clear.

7 ml of alumn added, less impurities coagulate together, the lake water is not
clear.
