Tooutlinetherequirementsformanagingandcontrollingliftingandriggingoperationsduringconstruction

2.0Scope
ThisprocedureappliestoalloperationsinvolvingtheuseofCranes,LiftingGear,Hoists,ForkLiftsandTelescopic
[Link],irrespectiveofweight
[Link],inthevicinityofother
potentiallyhazardousareasandpassingoverheadornearbymembersofthepublic,theserequirementsneedtobe
reviewed,assessedandplannedforapplicability.

3.1SiteManager
Toensurethatallliftingoperationsareadequatelyplannedandexecutedandthatallliftingequipmentusedonsite
iscertifiedandconformstothisprocedure.

3.2HSEManager.

1. ToliaisewithallmembersoftheProjectManagementTeam,SupervisorsandSubcontractorsonthe
planningofallliftingincludingerection,certificationandmaintenanceofallli ingappliancesasperitem2
(scope).

2. ToensurethatallpersonsinvolvedintheliftingoperationsarecompetentandsuitablytrainedinHSE
mattersfortheoperationstobeperformed.

3. Toensurethatallliftingappliancesandgearsareproperlytestedandcertified,fitfortheirintendpurpose
andaremaintainedandinspectedatappropriateintervals.

3.3 Subcontractor(s)
1 SubcontractorshallbringtotheattentionofNASRCONSORTIUManyitemofequipmentwhichisin
needofmaintenance,orwhichisfoundtobeoverduefortestorinspection.

6.1 GeneralInstructions
Everyliftingapplianceorpieceofliftinggearmustbeclearlymarkedwithitsworkingload
orloadsandmustbeusedwithintheseparameters.

1. IfNoSafeWorkingLoad,IdentificationNumberorthecorrectColorCodeadequatelymarked,then
DONOTUSEIT.

2. Liftingappliancesandassociatedliftinggearmustbeexaminedandwherenecessarytestedbyan
approvedinspectorThirdPartyAuthority(TPA)asfollows:

Ropeguardsmustonlyberemovedforthepurposeofmaintenance,inspectionoradjustment.

Allslingsandstropsaretobeexaminedbytheuserbeforeandaftereachuse.

Ropesmustbediscardedwhenthevisiblenumberofbrokenwiresinanylengthequaltotentimesthe
ropediameterexceeds5%ofthetotalnumberofwiresintherope.

Ropesremovedfromequipmentasunserviceablemustbeidentifiedassuch,broughttotheattentionof
theSiteManagerandremovedfromtheregister.

Whenaropeisreplacedthetestcertificateofthenewropemustberetainedwiththeregisterofthelifting
equipment.

Replacementropemustbestoredonpalletsordrumsinaplacewheredeteriorationfromcondensationis
minimized.

5.3 ChainHoist
Beforeuseensurethattheloadtobelifteddoesnotexceedthesafeworkingloadmarkedonthe
hoist,andthatthesupportpointsforthehoistarecapableoftakingtheload.

thenonlybyaqualifiedtestengineer,conformingtothecranemanufacturer'sspecificationsand
recommendations.

2. Themaximumworkingradiusofacraneboommustneverbeexceededwithaloadonthecranehook.

3. Whenaloadisequal,ornearlyequaltotheSafeWorkingLoad,theloadshouldbetemporarilyhalted
whenjustclearoftheareatocheckthebalanceandsecurityoftheloadandtheeffectivenessofthebrake.

6.12 RestrictionsONCRANEOPERATIONS

Normalcraneoperationswillberestrictedduringthefollowing:

associatedrigging;transportabletanks;winches;hoistsandpullingdevices;hydraulicjacks;runway
beamsandspreaderbeams;toolliftingclamps;padeyesandeyebolts;andskidframeswhichareused
fortransportation.

Thetermtestcertificatenormallymeansacertificateofproofloadtest,witnessedandsignedbya

certification([Link],containersseebelow),whileotherequipmenthasnorequirementfor
periodicretestbutmayrequireretestingaftersignificantrepairormodification.

8. ManBasketSafetyRules

8.2 BasketLoading

Beforeemployeesexitorenterahoistedpersonnelmanbasketthatisnotlanded,themanbasket
shallbesecuredtothestructurewheretheworkistobeperformed,unlesssecuringtothestructure

used,thelinesshallbecapableofsupportingwithoutfailure,atleasttentimesthemaximumintended
load.Therequireddesignfactorisachievedbytakingthecurrentsafetyfactorof3.5andapplyingthe
50percentderatingofthecranecapacity.

Loadandboomhoistdrumbrakes,swingbrakes,andlockingdevicessuchaspawlsordogsshallbe
engagedwhentheoccupiedpersonnelmanbasketisinastationaryworkingposition.

insofarasapplicable,whenhoistingemployees.

Thecraneoperatorshallremainatthecontrolsatalltimeswhenthecraneengineisrunningandthe
manbasketisoccupied.

Hoistingofemployeesshallbepromptlydiscontinueduponindicationofanydangerousweather
conditionsorotherimpendingdanger.

Noliftshallbemadeonanotherofthecraneorderricksloadlineswhilepersonnelaresuspendedina
manbasket.
