Jing for High School Screencasting

This document discusses using the screencasting software Jing to create tutorial videos for students. It would allow the teacher to record tutorials on how to complete assignments in Glogster without having to spend class time explaining it. Students could watch the Jing videos posted in Edmodo to learn how to format and complete their science project in Glogster. The integration idea receives a high rating because it aligns with standards, would transform lessons by saving class time, and increase student engagement and mastery of concepts by allowing students to learn at their own pace.

RESOURCE DESCRIPTION

This is a website that allows you to record the movements of what you are doing on the computer and
save it as a shareable video. It is basically a way to record tutorials without having to have somebody
actually record you.

INTEGRATION IDEA - SCREENCASTING

In a previous Integration Form, I planned out how I would use Glogster as an online pasteboard for a
science project. I would use Jing as a way that I could give tutorials on how to do things and set up what I
was looking for students to do. This way, I wouldnt get an overload of questions on how to do it via email
the night before it was due. Additionally, this would save me from spending class time on explaining how
to use Glogster. I could just post the Jing videos to my Edmodo page and have the students watch it to
answer the questions on simple formatting and how to things.

VALUE-ADDED EXPLANATION

I would rate this a 3. It would be a tool that would greatly aid the use of a different technology
tool. This could save me valuable class time. I could even go as far as to use it to show students a
variety of formatting methods that they would need for their lab reports, use of glogster, and even
how to find different things on Edmodo for discussion purposes.
