Filming Location Choices for Suspense

The document discusses the filming locations and lighting choices for a two-minute production sequence. The production team chose to film in a normal family house and living room rather than haunted locations to surprise the audience. Dim candle lighting was used around an Ouija board for realism, suspense and fear since Ouija is often played in the dark. The normal locations and lighting help set an ordinary scene before unexpected events occur.

Location Notes

The House
We have used the girls house as our
main location of our production. This is
because we thought that this would
create a sense of normality for the
audience. Typically, people wouldnt
expect strange things to happen in a
normal house. Therefore we used this
location to make it unexpected and
different rather than filming in a haunted
mansion or an abandoned house;
because the audience would know that
something wrong is going to happen.

Living Room
We decided to use a living room as our main setting for our two-minute
sequence. This is because we thought that it is
more appropriate for our story and narrative.
The audience would think that everything is
normal and ordinary, because they wouldnt think
that something would go wrong or unusual; it
creates a sense of normality.

Lighting dim lights (candles)

We have also decided to leave the main lights switched off, but there are
candles lit only around the Ouija board. This also creates a sense of
realism for the audience, because normally a Ouija board is played with
the lights switched off. This also creates suspense and fear, because the
audience doesnt know what is going to happen next.
