E-Portfolios and Self-Directed Learning

This scholarly article examines how e-portfolios can enhance students' self-directed learning through a systematic review of influencing factors. The authors find that e-portfolios have advantages over traditional paper portfolios by allowing for multimedia content and automatic data aggregation. However, their effectiveness depends on support from institutional policies and teachers, integration within the curriculum, opportunities for coaching during the learning process, and students' own motivation, time management skills, and comfort with technology.
