Construction Project Scheduling Optimization

This document presents a formulation for scheduling construction projects that aims to minimize direct construction costs. It includes constraints for scheduling, task durations, project duration, and non-negativity. An optimization problem is defined with the objective of minimizing cost, subject to these constraints. Specifically, the formulation accounts for the time required by different crews on each task based on resource allocation, with minimum and maximum possible values. The chapter concludes by stating that in the next chapter, a neural dynamics model will be adapted to solve the construction scheduling and cost optimization problem defined here.

CONCLUSION
In this chapter a general formulation was presented for the scheduling of construction projects. An
optimization formulation was described for the construction project scheduling problem with the goal of
minimizing the direct construction cost. In the next chapter, we adapt the neural dynamics model of Adeli
and Park for the solution of the construction scheduling and cost optimization problem.
