Area of study: Urban design.
Criteria of selection of the study area:
The design will be influenced by social and physical aspects of Delhi and NCR.
Social:
The design will focus on uplifting the working and living conditions of the
Kumhar community in Delhi and NCR by relocating them from where they
currently work to a dedicated village for their community.
Reason for relocation:
Current workplace and residences of this community is on government
encroached land and is leading to the development of slums in those areas.
Physical:
The recyclable raw materials for the idols will be procured from the ghat, hence
the design will include development of the ghat.
Objectives:
To study the culture and work-style of this community.
To assess the feasibility of relocating the disintegrated community to one
village.
To develop the ghat in a sustainable manner to protect the river.
Scope of work:
1. To study the traffic movement for the transportation of various materials and
idols and how it will influence the site.
2. To study what impact this village will have on the surrounding area.
Methodology to be adopted:
To study the culture and work-style of this community.
To analyse the potentials and deficits of relocating the community.
To study the architectural style of West Bengal and how it will influence and
blend in with that of Delhi.
To develop the design in accordance to the traffic movement.
