It is important for man and women either young and old to protect
themselves from sexual assault. It is difficult to think that it might happen to
everyone, unfortunately victims are getting younger being reported left and
right. It is disturbing trend that we must be vigilant with the growing number
of rape cases.
Rape cases is a difficult crime to prosecute. In the Philippines as of
year 2015 the number of rape case is 10,298 1. A larger number of rape
cases take place when the victims are below the age of consent. Yet there
is still incidence of rape that usually not reported because of the shame that
victims feel they cannot come forward. With the growing number of rape
cases it resulted that every victim has different testimony and credibility that
may affect or it brought changes to the Justice System to the violent nature
of the crime. Changes have been made in the legal system expanding the
definition of rape and reclassified that crime as crime against persons of, as
previously, grouping it with against chastity2. Several rape-related laws
have also been passed to address the problem. The changes will be
supported with three cases that has brought changes to the justice system.
