are todays headlines.
Anchor 1: Controversy over the use of spit hoods, what are spit hoods? Well
stay tuned and find out.
Anchor 2: An increase in thefts. Teacher gets his phone stolen when leaving
work. Listen to his side of the story.
Anchor 1: Questions remain to be un-answered about the death of 14 year old,
Nasar Ahmed. We go out and about to answer those very questions.
Anchor 2: We bring all the news from the VFX festival. Guess who made an
appearance.
(Music plays)
Anchor1 : Ooo, who made a appearance?
Anchor 2: (Laughs) I cant tell you that. Youre going to have to wait first of all
theres been a big controversy on the use of spit hoods.
Anchor 2: Yes there has been. Spit hoods are hoods made out of mesh fabric
which police put over offenders head to prevent them from spitting or biting.

Me: Thanks guys. Since 2011 they have been used at least 2,486 times in 635
cases on people with suspected mental health issues. There used by a third of
UK police forces today. I spoke to police officer, (name) to gain a better idea
about why theyre used. This is what he had to say.

Me: I also went out and about and asked young people and a past offender how
they would feel if one was used on them. Some said it would feel degrading,
some said it would be embarrassing.

Me: Lots of questions have been raised about the use of these spit hoods.
