Determine the critical depth in this trapezoidal
channel for a discharge of 14 m3/ s, The width of
the channel bottom is B = 6 m, and the sides
slope upward at an angle of 45.
Question 2
Water flows in a trapezoidal channel at a rate of
8.5 m3/s. The channel has a bottom width of 3 m
and side slopes of 1 vertical to 1 horizontal. If a
hydraulic jump is forced to occur where the
upstream depth is 0.3 m, what will be the
downstream depth and velocity? What are the
values of Fr1 and Fr2?

Water flows in a rectangular channel at a depth
of 30 cm with a velocity of 16 m/s, as shown in
the sketch that follows. If a downstream sill (not
shown) forces a hydraulic jump, what will be the
depth and velocity downstream of the jump?
What head loss is produced by the Jump?
