Professor Intawiwat
Final Reflection
Dear Professor Intawiwat,
Cpcc's fall semester has its ups and down and there were some parts that were
good and some parts that were kind of a struggle but I think as a student it's how
you face those challenges and how you approach them too. A lot of those
challenges could have been avoided and maybe some just came out of no where
like stuff at home or maybe just some personal issues.
The first topic I wanted to talk about is Written Literacy this was one of the most
interesting topic to me only because of the This I Believe Essay, which was my
favorite essay to write and it was fun to write to I enjoyed the whole process. The
purpose of my essay was so that people who have been through the same things or
feelings that I've been through so they can relate or even may find closer like I did
because sometimes loosing a loved one is hard and some people don't deal with it
as well as I have or am. The audience of the essay would have to be maybe young
adults who are suffering from a lost of a loved one that they lost while they were at
a young age or maybe people interested in finding closer for something they did to
a loved one. The context of this project was to inform people about how it
sometimes feels to loose a loved one because some people just beat themselves
up because they lost someone that was so close to them and they never figure out
how to deal with the pressure of the situation and everything around it. The
revisions of the essay most likely were just grammar errors and run on sentences
but it came out to be a well written essay about forgiveness and on my story about
why I believe in it. I discovered that to actually type how I felt about the whole
situation with my mom actually made me feel better because I really didn't talk
about it that much. This project used critical reflection because people can reflect
more on how the handled their own situations like this or can actually take from it.
The next topic is Visual Literacy which is one that kind of confused me but also it
was fun especially with the people watching assignment, the part when we had to
go people watching was one experience I won't forget because of how I dropped my
phone in the library. The audience of this topic would have to be people who would
want to be a chef or want to join the food industry. The major project of this topic
was the Ethnography essay which at first seemed really confusing to me because I
didn't know how to start it or how to even interpret the interview and the research
in it but it was an interesting project, I sure did love the topic I picked to do for this
project. The essay now shows some of the things I got from my interview with one
of the chefs at CPCC and how he saw the food industry and that I told him some
people say that it was trash but he said opinions like that don't matter if your doing
some thing you love to do and are passionate about it. I discovered that being a
executive chef isn't all about the food you cook but also about the kind of person
you are like do you uphold leadership characteristics. The SLO's that is being used
would be critical reading because people can interpret the essay and grab
information on how the food industry doesn't just have to do with fast food.
Digital Literacy had to be one of the most fun topics that was talked about this
semester because of the memes and I love memes because they are funny and
sometimes you can actually relate to them and there messages. The purpose of the
memes were to entertain the readers and give them a good laugh or understanding
on things that are happening. The audience would be people who love memes
which is about everyone because who doesn't enjoy a good laugh from a funny
meme that someone created. I found the meme making assignments fun because I
never made a meme before and it was fun to laugh at the other people memes that
they made and also laugh at the ones I made. I discovered how people be making
these memes that I always be seeing over the internet and on social media. I used
Critical reflection so people can reflect on the memes that I made on how they
looking at this semester or how they were looking at this English class.
The last topic is Pop Culture Literacy was really as short topic but it was another
one of the interesting because the magazine was one of the most challenging
assignments of this class only because that magazine had a lot of components to it
and plus trying to find a topic was difficult because that magazine could have been
about anything and the point you want to be unique to, that took some time
especially with the advertisements. The audience for this magazine is for people
who love to cook or love food or just actually love to eat and want to know some
things about food and where they have been eating. The purpose was to entertain
the people of the food industry and the people who are getting interest of becoming
a chef and want knowledge of the world of food and the industry. I discovered some
new things about food critics and what they do, not only do they just critic food but
they also have television shows on food network, cookbooks, or may even own their
own restaurants. I used Critical Reading as the student learning outcome for this
assignment because people can analyze, interpret, and evaluate from the readings
that are in the magazine.
As for the overall class was an success because I felt like I have achieved more with
this class than I did when I was in high school. My class participation was quite well
because there were sometimes I didn't feel as confident in my answer as I should
have, want to say i participated a lot all together with my outgoing personality and
the group assignments I had helped and learned a lot from it . I accomplished a lot
in my writing more better than the papers and essays I had to do in high school so I
improved and came a long way since then and I am very proud of myself for that. I
used reflections for my student learning outcomes more than any of the other SLOs
because I wanted people to reflect on what they read and how it reflects on what
they are going through in their day to day lives. I enjoyed this class and the people
I met and got to know from this class to I think I got a good friendship or at least a
good friend out of this because when I first started I was new to Charlotte and didn't
know anyone and meeting new people is always a good thing to accomplish even if
the people are really funny and cool to talk to and my experiences with them was
really fun and I will miss working with them. Thank you for the great projects and
great class discussions and it was a real pleasure working with you and having you
as a professor.
