The technology world is ever-changing. Teachers must remain tech-savvy to keep up
with all the new innovation that is introduced to the market. With new innovation, comes new
ways to learn. Teachers, who stay in tune with new technology, have the upper hand in how
interactive their classrooms are with the combination of technology and learning.
Some of the awesome products that help teachers in the classroom, that are new as of
October 2016 are: Google Apps for Educators, Design Squad Global, and Code-A-Thon brought
about by [Link]. Google Apps for Educators came to the market about ten years ago. Its
intention was to help teachers and students share work in an innovative way, the use of
technology. Now Google is providing its app with a new name, with a better fit. The name
Google is applying for its app is, G Suites for Educators. All in all, it encompasses the same
apps: Gmail, Google Docs, Google Drive, etc.. but it is now designed with new intellectual
features that bring students and teachers closer together, easier.
G Suites for Educators will probably be my favorite and most useful technological
change brought forth by the ever changing technology market! I am excited to use, and practice
incorporating G Suites for Educators into my classroom later on in life! Ive found Google Apps
to be helpful in my education, and I believe students can benefit immensely with Google Apps!

not familiar within a school system. Yet student data privacy has more of a concern with
personally identifiable information. Student privacy entered the system in the 1970s. This
allowed for student information to be given to a third party, the government or the police,
without parental consent.
Student data is comprised of more than just grades, attendance and transcripts, it can also
provide location description, social media, and login information. According to Litton, As the
reach of technology extends deeper into our lives, technology companies and policy makers are
discovering that it can be difficult to discern public expectation around privacy. Moreover, we
are learning that perceptions of privacy are often more important than legal limits and definitions
to a product or programs success. In reality, the real question everyone is asking is, will there
ever be privacy for students?
Schools should review laws to create and reenforce policies that include definitions for
provisioning and access rights in order to control who has access to specific data, and dispose of
data inventories. Someone needs to be appointed to stay on top of the laws and regulations
relevant to each district.

IBM Launches New Education App for iPad

IMB is launching its first educational app for ipads! If you are an avid ipad user, such as
myself, and are in the field of education this news is for you! This app is integrating interests,
accomplishments, and academic performance of a student, into the teachers life! This allows for
the teacher to be more involved in students lives, which in turn can potentially produce better
outcome in the student's life!
Working with Apple and IBM, we are developing creative solutions and designing
experiences for educators to engage learners, tap into their interests and align with their learning
styles in order to help meet academic needs, said Marilyn Denison, Coppell ISDs assistant
superintendent for curriculum and instruction, in a statement. Using the Watson Element app,
educators now have the relevant, real-time information they need in order to individualize
learning and prepare students to be successful in an ever-changing world.
Apple will offer the Watson Element app as part of its portfolio of educational tools for
schools. Users will be charged a one-time implementation and training fee, plus an annual perstudent subscription fee, which includes cloud hosting, maintenance and enhancements.

55 Percent of Faculty Are Flipping the Classroom

A technology survey recorded that the majority of high education teachers are changing
course in their own classrooms. Going from the standard lecture class to the opposite, the
flipped classroom. Some teachers had all of their classrooms flipped, where others had only a
few classrooms flipped. Are there any reasons to why only a few classrooms were flipped, or was
it just a choice by the teacher?
Flipped classroom teachers ask their students to watch a video lecture as homework
and come to class to do the work they would have had as homework. This allows for
participation in the activities, and for the teacher to help students who are not understanding the
material. Technology plays a huge part in a flipped classroom. Many of the teachers who replied
saying they use a flipped classroom relied on the use of technology outside of class.
In my personal opinion I believe that a flipped classroom is a great way to teach the next
generation. Of course, it does depend upon the resources of the school, and/or the students. A
flipped classroom is also dependent upon the age of the students, and their grade level. I believe
it would be very hard to try and have a flipped classroom with an elementary school class. Upper
middle school classes, and high school level classes are probably best for a flipped classroom. So
an upper level or higher education class is best for a completely flipped class!

Engaging Students in K-12 World Language Learning

Research has shown that it is important to get kids engaged with multiple languages. In
order to do so, students must be introduced to another language, other than their first language,
before they are 5 years of age. It is critical to begin teaching a foreign language before children
begin to lose their ability to learn a new language.
Middlebury Interactive Languages was partnered with a cite to create and provide schools
with resources to engage students in K-12 language learning. The site provides many forms of
learning, which include language infographics, classroom posters, and even news about different
parts of world language acquisition. This digital form of language learning allows for students to
master language in a whole new way!
A dual language program can ultimately be effective in developing language proficiency
and literacy in English, as well as in a partner, or dual language. With the help of online
resources, such as Middlebury Interactive Languages, students can achieve bilingualism, through
educational means.
Middlebury Interactive Languages combines learning, with fun games, and interactive
text and graphics. This provides the students with a creative and powerful way of learning. In my
opinion a dual language program is needed, in order to produce well balanced students. I would
definitely practice using Middlebury Interactive Languages, and hopefully become comfortable
to apply it to one of my classrooms later on in life!
