Mathematics in the School & My Classroom

Examine the table of contents for math text book used at your Teaching Practice
Placement.

How does the content align with CCSS for your grade level?
In Grade five, instructional time should focus on many areas, one of them is: extending division to
2-digit divisors, integrating decimal fractions into the place value system and developing
understanding of operations with decimals to hundredths, and developing fluency with whole number
and decimal operations. This CCSS what I will teach them during teaching practice period. Grade 5
level must be able to know all above skills before moving to grade 6.

Observe the math classroom arrangement (desks, shelves, materials, walls, etc.) Take
pictures and post in your portfolio.

Post the typical weekly schedule for one group of students for all their classes.

Examine your MSTs lesson plans. Take pictures or collect samples to post it on
your portfolio

How does she write plans for the week?


For the semester?
The ministry of education sent the Math lesson plans for grade (5) to all teachers around the UAE.
These lesson plans includes what the student must able to learn this course in each unit. After my
MST have a look of their lesson plans, she wrote her own lesson plans including the activities, and
practices that fitting with grade five level (high, middle and low). For the semester, Grade five
teachers meets to discover the best activities that will raise students level and discussing the goals
that they must achieve it and unify it to all grade five math teachers.
