Inheritance and Genetics Lesson Plan

Mrs. Cleary's 7E Science class will focus on genetics and how traits are inherited over the course of the week. Students will review eukaryotic cell structure, learn about genes and how nitrogen bases determine protein sequences. They will distinguish between DNA, genes, and nitrogen bases, and draw a labeled DNA sequence model. The class will cover Gregor Mendel's experiments in inheritance, genotype versus phenotype, dominant and recessive traits, and use Punnett squares to practice genetic probability.
