Reflections on Observation Task 2: Identifying Children with Special Educational Needs
(SEN)
Read the questions below and write your answers
1. What is the school policy for inclusion for SEN students in the school?
-
The teacher in the class should take care of the special need students.
Each special need child should have a teacher that their parent brings her because the
teacher will not take the full care about the child.
2. What accommodations were made for the identified SEN students in the classroom?
-
Actually there are no accommodations for the special need students in the classroom,
the teacher gave the same curriculum and same book for the special need child. In my
opinion the teacher should change something from the curriculum to teach special
need child because special need child cant understand quickly.
3. Was there any assistive technology, other equipment or materials used with the identified
- SEN students? If yes, please describe the equipment that was used and what it was
used for.
4. What teaching strategies did your MST use with the identified SEN students?
-
Honestly there are no any strategies for the special need children, the strategies that
she uses for the regular students, she uses also for the special need child.
5. Where there any other school staff that worked with the identified SEN students? If yes,
please explain their role and what they did with the identified SEN student.
-
Yes, but actually I never saw one of them came and took the special need child. The
MST told me that they came three or two times in the week, but sometime they are
busy.
6. Do you think that SEN students should be included in the classroom or taught in a class
specifically for SEN students? Why / Why not?
-
The special need child should be in the special need classroom because he not cares
and helps from someone who knows his problem. Acually the child cant write and
pay attention to the teacher. Their parents should let him learn more than bring him to
the inclusion classroom.
