Mission Statement
We uphold this mission because we recognize our twin roles as a responsible member of
Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan and as a responsive member of Indian society at large and look
at ourselves in a wider context as a Beyond MBA institution.
We will accomplish our mission through:
(a) Learner-centric pedagogy that will emphasize attitudes, including spirituality, and
skills as much as knowledge;
(b) Exposing students to value-based growth in underserved parts of our communities;
(c) Synthesis - in our intellectual contributions and curriculum - of competition based western efficiency and collaboration-centric eastern ethos; and
(d) Intellectual contributions aimed at influencing practice.
In our students, we recognize a predisposition and willingness to be a doer first. We
also emphasize sensitivity to the social footprint of business actions and the role of
spirituality in a balanced approach to decision making.
In our faculty members, we recognize a commitment to delivering outstanding
learner-centric pedagogy by taking advantage of the personal, residential nature of
our programs. We also require them to create and disseminate knowledge aimed
at influencing practice.
As a community, we will realize these objectives through integrity, self-accountability,
professional discipline, and hard work. We value operational freedom and uphold
an entrepreneurial, agile, flexible, and collaborative culture.
PGPM Class of 2015
Our mission is to influence practice and promote value-based
growth. Our students will recognize, understand, and uphold
the social relevance of business decisions, including within the
underserved sections of society.

Dear Corporate Leader,
I take great pride in introducing you to the class of 2015 at the Post Graduate Programme In Management (PGPM) at S.P. Jain Institute of Management and Research (SPJIMR).
SPJIMR consistently ranks among the top 10 business schools. This is a result of our innovative pedagogy and practice oriented approach, wherein we not only equip students
with the Knowledge (tools and techniques) to lead, but help them to practice the skills and develop the attitudes that will help them succeed. We have a strong learning through
doing element in our course, and our students are equipped to handle unstructured situations and stay the course.
A quest for all-round excellence and continous improvement is a consistent hallmark of top business schools. On this count, we share commonalities with the best of institutions
in management education. However, our program is different from other competing programs in the following ways:
a) We typically take in students with 5 or more years of work experience. The consequence is that each student has had time to acquire in-depth experience in one functional
area and has had some exposure to cross functional interactions.
b) While we teach subjects in functional areas, one emphasis that underlies all courses is the business is business approach. We teach students early that there are no
marketing problems or finance problems, but business problems with specific dimensions. We equip students to see all the cross functional linkages, and thus prepare them for
decision making at middle management levels.
c) We have a recruitment policy of recruiting a mix of traditional academics and senior industry leaders as faculty. This results in an optimal mix of theory and practice in what is taught.
We thus meet industrys growing need for lateral hires with a cross functional perspective, which often cannot be met purely by internal hires.
The class of 2015 stands out in terms of diversity of background, talent, depth and organisational maturity. Previous batches of this program have been enthusiastically
welcomed back by industry into strategic positions.
I invite you to be a part of our placement process for the PGPM class of 2015.

of business and its growth drivers. We believe that such middle-level talent
forms the backbone of organizational growth and that it is our responsibility
as a top business school to fulfill this critical need of industry.
Industry Need / Participant Need
The rapid growth of business has presented the need for a very large number

INTEGRATED
PLACEMENTS
INITIATIVE
[IPIPI]
IPIPI is a unique and unconventional method of industry
engagement. In this initiative, participants work as Consultants on
a project or an assignment, helping a Company find solutions to
some of its pressing issues.
Its a win-win for both the participants and the Company.
Participants get to apply their latest and advanced concepts to real
world situations and the Company gets enough time to evaluate
them for full-time roles.
The engagement during IPIPI is done through offline projects, since
the participants continue to attend lectures as per the curriculum.
Companies can select interested participants for an engagement
during the months of April to August with a view of recruiting them
during the placement process held in September and October.
BENEFITS TO RECRUITER:
Complex implementation issues can be dealt with innovative ways as program participants
bring in fresh thinking and the latest concepts.
Enables evaluation of the candidate over a longer period of time compared to the limited
duration of interviews during the placement period, thus reducing the probability of nonsuitability or placement issues.
BENEFITS TO PARTICIPANTS:
Enhances the functional learning of participants and enables them to understand the roles
and functions within the organization.
Participants establish a connection with the employer and they benefit from a hands-on
opportunity to apply their managerial learning.

Samavesh, a mid year event organized by PGPM,
serves as a platform that fosters industry - academia
interaction. This gala event consists of series of panel
discussions and networking sessions wherein CXO level
industry experts discuss current trends, opportunities
and challenges for growth. The sessions are highly
interactive and provide a holistic view of the subject
matter. Participants acquire comprehensive insight
about the Knowledge, Skills & Attitude (KSA) required
to pursue challenging leadership roles. Previous
speakers in Samavesh included Dr. D. K. Joshi, Mr.
Sujan Roy, Mr. Vikas Gupta, Mr. Neil Basu,Mr. Murali
Ramakrishnan & Mr. Vineet Rai. SAMAVESH 2014
primarily featured Theme Based keynote addresses,
panel discussions, research paper presentation.
2015 Samavesh Themes:
IM Theme Digital Strategy: A tipping Point for Organisations
Marketing Theme Targeting Indias Demographic Dividend through
Innovation Marketing
Finance Theme M&As: Trends and Growth prospects in Current
Business Environment
Operations Theme Make in India: How can India be a Hub of Global Sourcing
Indias rapid growth is increasingly underpinned by its traditional industries seeking to expand globally and the new services industries scaling up domestically. To manage
both these models, India will continue to have high demand for new talent with a holistic understanding of business models, organization management, financial planning and
enabling technologies. The SPJIMR PGPM Program has been ideally designed to meet this holistic need and aims to rapidly hone up students with at least five years of work
experience - who already understand the competitive nature of business and appreciate how organizations work. In my interaction with the current batch, I found them to be
articulate, confident, very well informed and above all, risks takers. The skills that this batch emerges with will make them extremely attractive for consulting and advisory firms.

THE CINEPHILE FILM CLUB
In the words of legendary filmmaker
Ingmar Bergman,"No form of art goes
beyond ordinary consciousness as film
does, straight to our emotions, deep into
the twilight room of the soul."
Good films bring people together,
convey powerful truths in a universal
language (like art & music) and thus
lead to limitless and very often
unimagined experiences, both for self
and society, and broad as well as minute
insight into the human psyche. In every
country in the world, cinema has the
power to delight and create delusions,
often simultaneously. This makes it an
incredibly rich complementary source of
management education. Now in its
second year, the Cinephile Film Club
continues to delve into the vast ocean of
film archives and showcase works of
exceptional merit - in the process
imbuing the leaders of tomorrow with
sensitivity and a humane outlook.
SPEAK UP
Amongst the plethora of activities
undertaken by the students of PGPM
1114 what stands out is the passion
and enthusiasm by which the official
speaking club (christened Speak Up!)
is run. The club has 60 active
members. Club meetings take place
on a weekly basis. Nominations for
speaking at the next club meeting are
opened a week in advance and all the
slots are usually filled up within a day
or two. We follow the internationally
renowned Toastmaster model in our
club. Accordingly we follow a fixed
order for our activities. Impromptu
speeches, prepared speeches and
presentations are some of the items
that have been covered at the club.
Going forward we have plans to
conduct debates, mock interviews,
mock networking meets and panel
discussions. There is a structured
feedback given to each speaker at the
club. A record of this feedback is made
and sent to all the members at the end
of the meeting. Since this is done for
each meeting, any speaker can refer to
this record to see how his / her
performance has improved over a
period of time.
THE PGPM CONSULTING CLUB
The Consulting club is an student
association, aiming to help consulting
aspirants by providing them a platform

TESTIMONIALS
PGPM program has helped me on two front:
1. Gave me right network to collaborate in
Industry. 2. Enable me to take up any unknown
challenge within Organization by giving me visibility across broad level
courses. These are pillars to build up your confidence and grow within
Organization.
- Kapil Bajaj,
Senior Client Solutions Manager, IBM Singapore Pte Ltd,
Batch of 2006
Dare to dream and act and you will not be
disappointed. I aspired to work across Sales
functions of Global multinationals, in my first job
post an engineering degree. The catalyst to achieve
this dream was the PGPM program, which not only
fast tracked this process, but also formed lifelong networks with talented
peers and alumni. The course content, experiential learning, focus on
spiritual quotient have all been ingredients for my sales career (post
PGPM) across the globe.
Deepak Chandrasekaran
Client Partner, Tata Consultancy Services Limited
Batch of 2007
Opened up a world of possibilities through
understanding or organizational and industry dynamics / nuances .

PGPM Class of 2015
In terms of giving a holistic
management learning experience,
PGPM at SPJIMR does what it promises
and a lot more. From the humbling experience of working
with NGOs for DOCC, to the spiritual healing enabled by
Gita Shibir, coupled with projects that are done in diverse
groups, the course has been an eye-opener in terms of
how this one year can actually be a life-altering time for a
participant. When I enrolled for the MBA, little did I imagine
that the experience would transform me for the better, both
as a professional and as a human being.
Koeyli Jaluka
DGM- Branding & Communications, Mahindra &
Mahindra
SPJIMR PGPM helped me to
add on a business perspective to
my technical background, which
enabled me to connect and engage with C-level executives,
understand their business drivers, needs and discuss IT
solutions that would help them in their business. The program
also gave me an opportunity to transition into an entirely
new role( sales & relationship mgmt) which has worked out
great for me over the last ten years. Now that I look back, it
was a great ROI.
Mohit Mehrotra
VP- Strategic Sales at IB Technology Solutions Inc.
Batch of 2005
As an experienced candidate, PGPM course helped me link
the industry dynamics with the management fundamentals.
It was a very good platform to connect with people from
different industry backrounds & hone my skills to be a better
Industry Leader.
Tarun Singla
Senior Purchase Manager, P&G.
Batch of 2007
PGPM helped me to follow my Rainbow over a
period of time. It helped me building my confidence
which is much more important than gaining knowledge and skills alone.
The faculties, peer communities, extra-curricular activities, Industry Guests
and the campus, everything brings substantial transformation in us. It
is more important to make one understand his potential and PGPM is
such a process, which helped me to create my identity in the workplace/
Corporate.
S Venkatasubramanian (Venkat)
Senior Business Manager - South East Asia, Larsen and Toubro Infotech
Limited, Batch of 2008
SPJIMR provided me with a broad based business
background that prepared me to handle pressure
situations better and allowed me to devise and find
holistic solutions to problems. The diverse backgrounds (both educational
and professional) of the peer group made for lively real world and
enriching discussions. It ensured that I get the much required exposure
to various industries and functions to succeed and move further in my
professional life. The resulting contacts and friendships are invaluable.
Overall it was an exciting journey which is now being continued beyond
classroom.
Gaurav Sharma
Manager, IDC.
Batch of 2006
It gave me an opportunity to work at a Private
equity where I worked on analyzing almost 50
companies from various industry sectors in India.
The way I imagine the world and India both macro and micro is far more
clearer now. I am now able talk to people from any background and be
able to relate to them and have more meaningful conversations. That has
also given me confidence to handle any situation in both professional
and personal lives. I recently changed back to Tech Industry as I see it
to be the one changing the world more faster. However the confidence
to be able to walk away and walk into situations is what i think i gained
from PGPM.
Girish Kamath
BD Manager, Cognizant.
