Understanding Isilon Server Basics

The document provides commands for managing an Isilon storage system, including viewing zones and SMB configurations. It describes the different Isilon series: S series for high performance, X series for midrange solutions, and NL series for archived data. Additionally, it highlights the scalability of Isilon's architecture, requiring a minimum of three nodes, and outlines the components of the ONEFS operating system.

ISILON Serios : Linear Scaling Of Performance And Capacity

S series - High perfromance (SSD & SAS Drives) : Purpose-built for IOPS
-intensive,Random Access,File-based Applications.
X Series - Midrange : Flexible solution for high concurrent and sequenti
al throughput applications.
NL Series- Archived data : Idel for cost-effective, Large-capacity stora
ge.
Ision is not a block solution it's completly file solution (NAS)
In Isilon each node has CPU,disks and cache Memory so if you add more nodes then
automatically performance will be inreased. ( In other vendors the CPU and memo
ry are constant even if you add more enclosures/disks)
Minimum configuration for isilon is 3 nodes (Minimum capactiy is roughly 20TB &
maximum 20PB with 144 Nodes)
Single filesysytem / single volume will be expand the entire

cluster.

To speak about ONEFS Operating System, it has main 3 treditional elements those
are, 1. FILE SYSTEM, [Link] MANAGER 3. DATA PROTECTION
