Welcome to MGLA:
In kindergarten (QUARTER 1), students will learn counting and cardinality. They will learn number names and
the count sequence, count to tell the number of objects, compare numbers, operations and algebraic thinking,
understand addition as putting together and adding to, number and operations in base ten, work with numbers
1119 to gain foundations for place value.
Class content:
Math Math Workshop
Global connections:
Understanding the world also means appreciating the contributions of other cultures. In algebra, students could
benefit from studying numbers systems that are rooted in other cultures, such the Mayan and Babylonian
systems.
Required materials:
Materials are in classroom. Supply list on website.
Daily preparation and communication:
Homework binder (math homework) is a daily requirement and is expected to be returned and signed every day.
Grading: Informal and formal assessments
Tutoring schedule: By invitation only.
