in 1994, Batas 100th year, hence the name shatak, a Sanskrit word meaning 100.
The factory lies in the midst of a beautifully landscaped garden in a total land area of
more than 10 acres. The shed area covers approximately 4,400 square meters. It is equipped
with the captive electrical generation of 320 KVA against a sanctioned load of 325 KVA,

4.11 PRODUCT DEVELOPMENT DEPARTMENT

Product development is the most important department in the shoe manufacturing process.
This is the basic step of making a shoe. Here the product is designed and a sample is made
and after the sample gets approved it goes for bulk production. This is the birthplace of each
and every creation.
International designers and technicians conduct advanced product research and establish
strict quality control procedures. The focus is on introducing new and exciting products
which are competitively priced and give value for money. Batas strength lies in its
worldwide presence. While local companies are self-governing, each one benefits from its
link to the international organization.
To remain at the top, Bata India invests substantial amounts in developing new concepts and
design which set standard for the industry. Its recent break through products under its Bata
Tech brand is the result of untiring efforts of its product development department.
