The fundamental step in every success of a business is planning. In order to reach the
organizational goals and objective, planning plays a very important role. It is also essential since
the resources to make our product are not commonly available in the market.
The business operation of such business crucially relies on the purchasing of the supplies.
Once the business discontinues its purchasing, there will come a time that the business operation
will stop as well since it is a food business. Furthermore, monitoring the inventory level is also
important to avoid shortages and surpluses. For the business to know the period of purchase and
the amount of supplies needed, it is essential to check the sales.
The next step after purchasing as what is shown in the figure _____ is receiving of
supplies. It is the point at which foodservice operations inspect the products, and take legal
ownership and physical possession of the items ordered. 1 These received supplies will be taken
to its proper storage. The receiving process involves five key steps: 1) inspect the delivery and
check it against the purchase order, 2) inspect the delivery against the invoice, 3) accept order
only if all quantities and quality specifications are met, 4) complete receiving records, and 5)
immediately place goods in appropriate storage.2 To sustain the quality of the supplies,
following the steps in the receiving process is a requirement. Supplies can be spoiled and will
become wastes if they are not properly checked.
The facility area, including the storage area, is properly sanitized to ensure the cleanliness of the
products that will be made and to avoid spoilage or contamination of unwanted bacteria. A clean
environment also adds up to the efficiency of the people who will make the product since
cleanliness promotes productivity.
