2012, has been crowned the third
runner-up and Miss Fitness in the 27th
World Miss University 2016 held in Beijing of China on Wednesday. Shrestha
is also a goodwill ambassador of Child
Reach Nepal and Ujayalo Foundation
and is actively involved in social works.
Kelin Rivera of Peru has own the crown
while Pakistan and China bagged the
first and the second runner-up awards respectively. The contestants
from 70 countries and regions had participated in the pageant.

KATHMANDU: With the theme Music for Unity, popular Nepali band Nepathya performed at the Hammerstein
Ballroom of the Manhattan Center.
Today is Janai Purnima, there is a place called Gosaikunda which is a shrine related to this occasion. We had

the US and other music lovers attended the concert that
continued for two hours on Saturday evening.

Gurung mentioned that his band was performing in New
York coinciding with Janai Purnima and recalled his visit
to Gosainkunda of Rasuwa district.

With a 10-member entourage Dhurba Lama on drums,
Suraj Thapa on keyboards, Subin Shakya on bass, Niraj
Gurung on guitars and Shanti Rayamajhi on madal, the
band has been travelling different countries for musical
journey 2015 . They earlier formed in Australia, Tokyo,
Dubai and London also.
NEW YORK: Nepali-origin fashion designer Prabal Gurung drew
inspiration from tragedy back home to create a poignant and moving show at the ongoing New York Fashion Week. Gurung, who was
born in Nepal, opened his show at Skylight Moynihan on September
13 with prayer chants by 24 orange-robed monks in remembrance
of the earthquake that devastated his mountainous country on April
25, reported New York Daily News. Despite his sadness for his home,
Gurung expressed gratitude in a moving note that was included with
his run-of-show.

Festival is set to be held in
Pokhara from January 29.
Jan 26, 2016- The fifth edition of the Nepal Literature
Festival is scheduled to
be held at the premises of
the Nepal Tourism Board,
Pokhara, in an attempt to
introduce the taste of an
international literature festival to the audience of the
lake city. The festival will
be held from January 29 to
Febuary 1.
The event, which is Nepals
only international literary
festival, will bring together
a galaxy of litterateurs, academics, journalists, artists
and musicians for a vibrant
celebration of words and
ideas, culture and creative
expressions.
Sixty eminent personalities
including Baburam Bhattarai, Gagan Thapa, Lilamani
Poudel, Yogesh Bhattarai,
Rabindra Mishra, Rabindra Adhikari, Narayan
Wagle, Buddisagar, Amary
Nyaupane, Nayana Raj
Pandey, Sharada Sharma,
Saraswoti Pratiskhsy, Khagendra Sangroula, Rajesh
Hamal, Dayahang Rai,
Vijay Kumar Pandey,
Pradip Giri, Sarubhakta
Shrestha, Manu Manjil,
Upendra Subba and Subin
Bhattarai will be holding
discussions on topics such
as Naya Shakti, leadership
crisis, films, economic
crises and a slew of literary
topics.
Photo Circle will also
exhibit some of works that
were part of the photo
festival Photo Kathmandu.
The festival is jointly organised by the Bookworm
Foundation and Random
Readers Society.
