Republican Neal Dunn: It Will be Tough for Obama to
Make Cases for Failed Policies
Panama City, Fla. Republican Candidate for Florida Congressional District 2, Neal Dunn,
today issued the following statement regarding President Barack Obamas upcoming State of the
Union address.
Tonight, as President Obama gives his final State of the Union address, he will attempt to make
a case for his failed policies. It will be tough; however, to boast about the poor public policies
this administration has implemented during his time in office.
The Presidents signature policy, Obamacare, has proven to be a complete disaster for the
American people. With government-instituted mandates, rising premiums and costs and limited
health insurance networks, Obamacare does not work for the people of Northwest Florida or the
nation. Even as the President touts his flawed health care system, we must continue to advocate
for the repeal and replacement of this broken law, which is suited for the governments best
interest, not patients. As I have stated before, as a doctor, I have seen the downfalls of
Obamacare firsthand. Washington needs health care solutions that work for our communities, not
the government, and I am ready and dedicated to help find those solutions.
Perhaps more troubling as we head into tonights State of the Union, is that the President has no
clear cut policy for the Middle East. Our President continues to put Americas national security
at risk. Even worse, with his problem-laden Iran Deal, the President proposed putting nuclear
weapons in the hands of a rogue nation. We must secure our nation, defending it from terrorism
and other threats, which the President has failed to do time and again. As a veteran, I understand
the importance of policies and measures that make our nations security our No. 1 priority.
The President will undoubtedly also try to defend his decision to trample on the Second
Amendment. Recently, through executive action, he has attacked law-abiding citizens gun
rights. The Right to Bear Arms is a fundamental right in the Constitution and must be
protected. I am alarmed, as are so many of my fellow Americans, by President Obamas actions.
While I am deeply disappointed at his disdain for the Constitution, I will continue to fight to
uphold and protect the Second Amendment and the rest of the Constitution.

From the first day of my campaign, fostering economic prosperity in our communities has been
one of my top priorities. Instead of taxing our way to economic growth, as the current
administration has attempted, we must implement policies that will grow small businesses, cut
bureaucratic red tape and encourage job growth in our local communities. I am a business owner
and have witnessed firsthand the negative effects of increased taxes and government-mandated
policies. I understand the specific solutions needed to get our economy back on track.
Even as we reflect on the bad policy decisions made by President Obamas administration in the
past seven years, I am optimistic as we look to the future of our community and nation. By
addressing the challenges that face Northwest Floridians with conservative, common-sense ideas,
we can bring sanity back to the federal government, and I am committed to fighting for
Congressional District 2.
Since announcing his candidacy for Floridas 2nd Congressional District, Dr. Dunn has been
endorsed by former U.S. Congressman Steve Southerland, former Speaker Allan Bense, former
Senate President Don Gaetz, former Speaker Will Weatherford, and Representatives Dennis
Baxley, Jay Trumbull and Elizabeth Porter.
Neal P. Dunn, MD, FACS has been a surgeon in Panama City for 25 years and in the U.S. Army
for more than 10 years before that. He was the founding president of the Advanced Urology
Institute, a 45-physician practice with more than 400 employees and offices throughout North
Florida. He also founded Panama City Urology Center & the Bay Regional Cancer Center and
has a subspecialty interest in advanced prostate cancer. He sits on the Governor's Prostate Cancer
Advisory Council and also serves on the Florida Blue Physician Advisory Board. He received his
B.S. from Washington & Lee University and his M.D. from George Washington University. His
Urological Residency was at Walter Reed Army Medical Center. He has served on the Board of
Governors of the Florida Medical Association for 18 years and was the chairman of the Florida
Medical Association's very successful Council on Legislation. He has served as president of his
County Medical Society, chief of staff of Gulf Coast Hospital and director of the Bay Medical
Center Sacred Heart Joint Venture. He is active in several philanthropies, including serving as
chairman of the Bay Cares program, a charity that provides $30 million of free specialty care
annually to the working poor (with an operational overhead of less than 0.5 percent). He is also
the founding chairman of Summit Bank, a rapidly growing five-star bank headquartered in
Panama City with branches throughout Northwest Florida. In 2014, Dr. Dunn was appointed to
the Board of Space Florida which manages the state's growing assets of space launch,
manufacture and assembly facilities. Space Florida is now the busiest space launch facility in the
world. He is also on the board of directors of Enterprise Florida, a public-private collaborative
group that oversees some $100 million in economic development grants and conduit financing
annually. Dr. Dunn has been married to his wife, Leah, for 30 years and has three sons and three
grandsons.
