GasAlertMicro 5

Quick Reference Operations Key


ON: Press A. Audible/visual/vibrator alarms activate. The
current TWA, STEL, low, and high alarm setpoints are
displayed. A self-test is performed during the startup
sequence.
OFF: To turn off the detector, press A and hold until the
countdown is complete.
BACKLIGHT: In alarm (auto); in low-light (auto, if
enabled); and on demand (press and release any key in
low-light conditions to reactivate.)
GAS ALARMS: GasAlertMicro 5 is equipped with TWA,
STEL, low, high, multi-gas, and over range (OL) alarms.
Audible/visual/vibrator alarms activate; affected gas
readout blinks advising which gas hazard is present;
L icons light advising alarm level and type present.
PUMP ALARM: Audible/visual/vibrator alarms pulse
slowly. ALARM and J icons flash.
LOW BATTERY ALARM: flashes and audible/visual
alarms pulse. Change the batteries in a non-hazardous
atmosphere.
VIEW TWA, STEL, and PEAK (MAX) EXPOSURES:
Press and hold C. TWA, STEL, and peak exposures are
displayed in ppm or %.
TWA = accumulated exposure to toxic gases averaged
over a work day based on the OSHA or ACGIH method
(Not applicable to O2 and LEL)
STEL = short-term exposure to gas based on a 5-15 min.
user selectable period (Not applicable to O2 and LEL)
PEAK (MAX) = maximum concentration encountered*
*For Oxygen, it is the highest or the lowest concentration
encountered.

Leave the detector ON for the entire work shift.


TWA, STEL, and maximum concentration
readings reset if the detector is left off for more
than 5 minutes.
To clear TWA, STEL, and maximum gas exposure
readings, press and hold C and G simultaneously.
CALIBRATION:
1. In a clean atmosphere, press and hold C and H until
the countdown is complete.
2.
flashes as the detector zeroes the gas
sensors and calibrates the oxygen sensor.
3. When K flashes, connect the calibration bottle and
apply gas at a flow rate of 250-500 ml/min. to span the
sensor(s). Repeat until all sensors have spanned. When
complete, remove the gas.
4. Press C to set the next calibration due date. Press H
or G to set the due date and press C to save. Once all
due dates are set, press C to set the alarm setpoints.
5. Press H or G to change the alarm setpoint and press
C to accept the value. Once all the setpoints have been
set, the display reads Saving calibration indicating
calibration is complete.
