The present continuous is used to talk about arrangements for events

at a time later than now. There is a suggestion that more than one
person is aware of the event, and that some preparation has already
happened.
EXAMPLES

I'm meeting Jim at the airport = Jim and I have discussed this.

I am leaving tomorrow. = I've already bought my train ticket.

We're having a staff meeting next Monday = all members of staff

have been told about it.

EXAMPLES

Is she seeing him tomorrow?

He isn't working next week.

They aren't leaving until the end of next year.

We are staying with friends when we get to Boston.

Note:In the first example, "seeing" is used in a continuous form because

it means "meeting".

The PRESENT PROGRESSIVE TENSE indicates continuing action,

something going on now. This tense is formed with the helping "to be"
verb, in the present tense, plus the present participle of the verb (with
an -ing ending): "I am buying all my family's Christmas gifts early this
year. She is working through the holiday break. Jose is being a really
good boy in these days before Christmas".

The present progressive can suggest that an action is going to happen in

the future, especially with verbs that convey the idea of a plan or of
movement from one place or condition to another: "The team is
arriving in two hours. He's moving to Portland this summer." Because the
present progressive can suggest either the present or the future, it is
usually modified by adverbs of time.
