Important Application Information
ROLLING ADMISSIONS
Remember to stay on top of your application and materials. SIT has a rolling admissions policy, meaning some programs fill in
advance of the application deadline. Your application is not marked complete and reviewed until SIT Study Abroad receives all pieces
of your application including transcripts, references, and institutional approval. Click here for more information on rolling admissions.
ADMISSIONS CRITERIA
SIT Study Abroad welcomes applications from undergraduate students in good academic standing with a minimum cumulative grade
point average of 2.5 at any college or university and who have completed at least two semesters of college-level coursework at the
time of application.
APPLICATION COMPONENTS
SIT Study Abroad considers the admissions process to be an important component of the entire study abroad experience. We hope
that our in-depth application and subsequent conversations will be useful to you as you focus your goals for studying abroad and
prepare for a meaningful term.
You can view the progress towards completing your application following the checklist. Your application will not be reviewed until we
have received all application materials listed.
WHAT HAPPENS NEXT...
Once we have received all your application materials, including approval of participation, academic reference and official transcripts,
our admissions committee will review your application. Applications are reviewed by the admissions committee competitively in
batches. Program sizes are small and therefore the admissions committee may limit the number of offers of admissions given
to students from the same institution in order to create a positive and varied group experience. You may be contacted to discuss
your application or with a request for additional information. Offers of admission are generally made within three weeks. You will then
have two weeks to reserve your space in the program by submitting the appropriate confirmation materials. A list of these items will
be provided with your offer of admission and will include medical information, a $2,500.00 non-refundable deposit, visa materials if
applicable, and other items specific to your program. This list is also available online.
SCHOLARSHIPS AND FINANCIAL AID
Information about SIT Study Abroad scholarships and other financial aid can be found online. Current program fees are also
available online.
DISABILITIES/SPECIAL SERVICES
Federal law prohibits us from making pre-admission inquiry about disabilities. Any information received regarding disabilities will be
kept in strict confidence and will not adversely affect admissions decisions.
To request disability-related accommodations, admitted students should contact the Office of Disability Services. For more
information about the accommodation process, documentation guidelines and a link to the accommodation request form, please visit
the Disability Services website at [Link]/disabilityservices. Students with disabilities are encouraged to contact
Disability Services as early as possible for information and support.
IMPORTANT GENERAL REMINDERS
If accepted, you will be required to provide us with a copy of your passport (unless - as with some programs - it is requested earlier in
the application process) and SIT medical forms.
Passport: Your passport must be valid for at least six months after the completion of the program. If yours will expire before this date,
or if you do not have a passport, you should apply for a new one immediately. It can take 4-6 weeks to receive a new passport, so if
you are applying close to the SIT application deadline, you will need to expedite your passport. If you are unsure about the need to
expedite, please contact SIT.
Medical Report: The SIT medical forms must be completed by you and in conjunction with your physician or medical professional. At
minimum, Part 1 of the medical form and a scheduled appointment date with your physician or medical professional must be
submitted with your confirmation materials. To avoid delays, make an appointment at the time of your application.
