I wish to gain employment as a Primary School Teacher in the United Kingdom, so as to gain rich and
fulfilling life experiences and to broaden my professional development. For me, the rewards and
challenges of teaching offer a sense of satisfaction that is enhanced by the knowledge that I have had

approximately 1 600 students and 100 members of staff. The school is situated in a low socioeconomic area, and has students from a wide variety of ethnic backgrounds. The Special Education
Unit in the school has approximately 70 students and 10 teachers, and is coded for students with
Intellectual Impairments and Autism Spectrum Disorder.
Responsibilities include:
Multi-age form class
Teaching and assessing modified literacy, numeracy, science, social skills and computer technology
programs to Year 8 SEU students curriculum is aimed at a Primary Level.
Organising and supervising school excursions, outdoor education and swimming programs, and
camps
Collaboratively writing Individual Education Plans (IEPs) for students in case load
Assisting class teachers to modify work and assessment items to suit individual students
Providing in-class support for Year 8 special needs students in mainstream classes
Co-coordinating a school based caf serviced by the Special Education students, including training
students in: workplace health and safety; basic food preparation; money handling; customer
service; and waiting.
Extra curricular activities: I choreographed and taught a small belly dancing routine to a group of
high school girls for a school wide multicultural concert. I have also co-organised a Jump Rope for
Heart Program for students in the SEU, to encourage the development and maintenance of healthy
lifestyle choices.

backgrounds. The Special Education Unit in the school is coded for students with Intellectual
Impairments and Autism Spectrum Disorder. Special needs students are supported in class and are
also withdrawn to the SEU to received modified literacy and numeracy programs; cooking and living
skills programs and social skills training.
Responsibilities included:

Organising and supervising of a shopping and cooking program for students in case load
A supervising teacher on a Year 6 camp.

In 2002, I also did supply teaching one day per week (20 days approx.), in mainstream primary
classes.
