Primary Purpose:
The SYSTEMS ANALYST (DATABASE) performs the design, development, testing,
implementation, and optimization of district database applications and reports.
Qualifications:
Minimum Education/Certification:
Bachelors degree in computer science or related field is preferred. May substitute solid
years of programming experience for education on a year for year basis.
Special Knowledge/Skills:
Experience with database design and development (Microsoft SQL Server, My SQL)
Experience with database integration technologies (Microsoft SSIS, ODBC)
Knowledge and experience in the use of database management software and applications
development tools
Ability to prioritize effectively and handle shifting priorities
Ability to move easily between projects involving different technologies
Ability to analyze problems, troubleshoot, and provide maintenance
Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills
Candidate must be methodical, logical, patient, careful, and accurate
Candidate must be adaptable to new things, and be able to work well under pressure
Candidate must be a team player and willing to teach and learn
Possesses a positive, can do attitude
Experience:
One to two years of database development experience preferred
Major Responsibilities and Duties:
1. Perform all phases of database development, including analysis, design, writing code,
testing and implementation
2. Conduct detailed systems analysis to define requirements
3. Ensure that developed database applications and reports are designed to meet
technical and user requirements
4. Write code according to specifications to create software that is effective and easy to
maintain.
5. Create, maintain, and update technical manuals and documentation for internally
developed software.
6. Develop and run special reports and queries
7. Comply with policies established by federal and state law, State Board of Education
rule and local board policy
8. Perform other duties as assigned
