Position

: Project E & I Supervisor, From May 2014 to July 2015

Project overview
SBM Offshore has been awarded a contract by Technip France for the engineering,
Procurement, construction, transportation of a TURRET MOORING SYSTEM for integration into the Prelude FLNG
FACILITY which is being fabricated in Korea by Samsung Heavy Industries for Technip. SBMs scope of work also
includes support and/or assistance to TPF during subsequent phases up to NORMAL OPERATIONS, The Prelude
FLNG facility will be located approximately 230 km from mainland Northwest Australia in the F-Block WA-371 in
the East Browse Basin, also known as F-Block. The water depth at the Preludelocation is approximately 240 m.
Turret Mooring System
The Turret Mooring System will be permanently integrated towards the bow of the vessel. The system will allow
the vessel to passively "weathervane" around the anchor legs and take up the position of least resistance to the
prevailing weather, while simultaneously transferring fluids, power, and communications signals between the
vessel and the subsea equipment. The Internal Turret Mooring System proposed consists of a cylindrical turret
structure, located within a cylindrical moon pool integrated into the hull. This design will be developed using a
conventional bogie bearing arrangement. A multideck superstructure (Manifold), located on top of the turret,

houses installation and production equipment, piping manifolds and the fluid swivel stack. A steel framework
(Gantry) is positioned above and around the superstructure. The framework, connected to the vessel, supports
the piping extending from the fluid swivel stack to the FLNG topside, provides access to the turret from the
vessel and drives the rotating parts of the swivel.
