 Spofford Pond School

Positive Behavior Program

In recognition of students who go Above and Beyond the Code of Conduct, reliably Do the Right Thing, or
otherwise Deserve Commendation.

Level I: One commendation with a Blue Slip.


 Each staff member will have access to Blue Slips. Staff member who gives out a Blue Slip will circle
the Positive Behavior and give to homeroom teacher.
 Monthly, homeroom teacher will send the names of Blue Slip recipients to the Principal. Names will
be posted in the lobby (but not the Blue Slip) and included in The Spofford Times.
 Classroom teacher is responsible for collecting Blue Slip and following up with Level II
commendations, even if they did not give out the slips.
 Two Blue Slips within a school day results in Level II action.
 Three or more Blue Slips within five school days results in Level III action.
 For Special subjects: Two Level I Blue Slips in a reasonable time advances to Level II.

Level II: Phone-call or Note home informing parents of Positive Behavior.


 If note home, standard form will be used that has a student section to fill out explaining Positive
Behavior with parent and teacher signatures.
 More than one Level II commendation within one school week is immediate Level III.
 For Special subjects: Two or more Level II commendation within a reasonable time advances to
Level III.

Level III: Student sent to Principal’s Office with GOOD NEWS REFERRAL FORM.
 Principal will meet with student to discuss behavior and take one of the following actions:
 Verbal Congratulations  Good News Publicized
 Hand Shake  Prize Given
 Parent Notified  Other
 Communication home from principal or parent/principal/teacher conference.
 GOOD NEWS REFERRAL FORM is recorded.
 A pattern of Level III commendations may lead to a meeting and recognition by the Superintendent of
Schools.

Level IV: Meeting with Superintendent of Schools.


 Additional parent communication
 Possible publicity in local newspapers

Spofford Pond School Code Of Conduct


1. Be Responsible: Follow directions, stay in assigned area.
2. Be Safe: Walking at all times, keep hands, feet, body parts and other objects to yourself.
3. Be Respectful: Use active listening. No bullying, harassment, put downs, teasing, foul language or
vandalism of property.
4. Be Considerate: Use appropriate voice volume indoors, keep all areas of the school clean, and do not talk
while others are talking.
