The Mahindra Group's Farm Equipment Sector has a significant presence across six
continents. It is among the top five tractor brands in the world, with its own state-of-the-art
plants in India, USA, China and Australia, and a capacity to produce 1,50,000 tractors a year.

In the domestic business, the Farm Equipment Sector has had an unparalleled market
leadership for the last 24 years. It is the largest producer of tractors in India. Mahindra &
Mahindra recently consolidated it position as the leader of the Indian tractor industry when it
acquired 43% stake in Punjab Tractors, the owner of the leading Swaraj brand of tractors.
The international operations of the Farm Equipment Sector are spread across six continents. It
has state-of-the-art manufacturing plants in India, USA, China and Australia.
Mahindra Gujarat Tractor, acquired by Mahindra & Mahindra from the Government of
Gujarat in 1999, is the oldest running tractor unit in the country. The Mahindra Group has a
60% stake and the balance 40% is with the Government of Gujarat.
Mahindra Agribusiness integrates the food chain by providing quality inputs and farm
solutions to post-harvest management of high value farm produce. The Company's core
business is to provide supply chain services to organised retail, to both export and domestic
markets for fresh fruits and vegetables as well as to the food processing industry. Mahindra
Agribusiness is the first Indian corporate body to be awarded EUREGAP certificate as
Primary Market Organisation for Grapes.
Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd., the tractor and utility vehicle major, entered the field of Power
Generation in 2001. Today, M&M engines under the brand name Powerol are powering Diesel
Generating sets up to a rating of 62.5 KVA. partnership between M&M and Renault. An
investment of 125 million euros (Rs. 700 crore) was announced to set up a production
capacity of 50,000 cars per year.
M&M powered DG sets are certified for the stringent Noise and Pollution norms made
mandatory by CPCB (Central Pollution Control Board). Engines are also suitable for
Industrial applications like Crane, Compressors, Forklifts, Rice Mills & Concrete Mixers.
Engines are also suitable for agriculture and marine applications.

The Mahindra Groups Automotive Sector is in the business of manufacturing and marketing
utility vehicles and light commercial vehicles, including three-wheelers. It is the market leader
in utility vehicles in India since inception, and currently accounts for about half of Indias
market for utility vehicles.
Although created in 1994 following an organizational restructuring, the Automotive Sector
can trace its antecedents back to 1954. The iconic jeep that led American G.I.s to victory in
World War II is the very same vehicle that drove the Mahindra Group to success in the
Automotive Sector. Mahindra & Mahindra Limited, the flagship company of the Group, was
set up as a franchise for assembling general purpose utility vehicles from Willys, USA.
Over the years, the Group has developed a large product portfolio catering to a diverse
customer base spanning rural and semi-urban customers, defence requirements and luxurious
urban utility vehicles. In 2002, it launched the indigenously engineered world-class sports
utility vehicle Scorpio, which bridges the gap between style and adventure, luxury and
ruggedness, and performance and economy.
Over the years, the Group has developed a large product portfolio catering to a diverse
customer base spanning rural and semi-urban customers, defence requirements and luxurious

Mahindra Renault announced the launch of Logan, Indias first wide body car, sporting a
host of class-defying features at an aggressive price. The Logan redefines its segment in terms
of spaciousness as well as performance, technology with the latest generation dci common rail
engine. It has been designed for the Indian market incorporating a contemporary styling and
design.
Mahindra International, a joint venture between Mahindra & Mahindra Limited and
International Truck and Engine Corporation, will manufacture trucks and buses for India and
export markets. It will also provide component sourcing and engineering services to
International Truck and Engine Corporation.

Mahindra Finance was established in 1991, a time when the buyer had to largely arrange for
his own funds. The major financiers were banks and moneylenders and the challenge was to
achieve growth amidst competition. The Company started as a wholesale fund provider and
moved into retail funding.
Mahindra Finance identified the emerging opportunity of tractor financing as well as
extending finance to non-Mahindra vehicles. Today, It is one of the largest non banking
finance companies in India with an asset base of about Rs. 5000 crores. it has around 5,00,000
customers and over 350 branches spread across the country, largely covering rural and semiurban locations. Already a very strong rural brand, plans are underway to expand the branch
network to cover almost 90% of districts in India. The Company recently went public with an
IPO which was subscribed 26.88 times.
Mahindra Insurance Brokers, a wholly owned subsidiary of Mahindra Finance, is one of the
few insurance broking companies in India to receive the ISO 9001:2000 certification for
Quality Management Systems. It provides direct insurance broking for retail and corporate
customers with a wide and comprehensive range of plans for Life and Non-life Insurance
segments.

Trade, Retail and Logistics
The Mahindra Group's entry into the business arena emanated out of trading in steel, which
over the years evolved into Mahindra Intertrade Limited and its subsidiaries, with specialised
domain knowledge in imports and exports of commodities, domestic trading, marketing and
distribution services.
Mahindra Intertrade is the trading arm of the Group. Steel and steel related services
constitute a major part of the Company's offerings. Its portfolio also includes steel raw
materials, ferro alloys, technical and applications-oriented products and even consumer
products such as toys and apparel. It has a reach of over 300 customers with principals in over
15 countries.
Mahindra Steel Service Centre is the first steel service centre in the organised sector in
India. It seeks to provide high quality prime raw material and JIT deliveries to the Automotive
Sector and value-added products (such as laminations for transformers) to the home appliance
and transformer industries.
Mahindra MiddleEast Electrical Steel Service Centre was set up during early 2005 to
process both Cold Rolled Grain Oriented (CRGO) and Cold Rolled Non Grain Oriented
(CRNGO) steels used in the manufacture of transformers and compressors in the high growth
GCC market. It is the first such steel service centre in the organised sector Middle East.
In 2000, the Mahindra Group set up Mahindra Logistics to take care of its complex
transportation needs. These included inbound and outbound logistics and inter-plant
movement, among other services. While it was originally intended as an in-house facility for
Mahindra Group companies only, Mahindra Logistics began to extend its services to external
clients across the world. It has now grown into a complete logistics service provider.
Mahindra Logistics has two main divisions: The Supply Chain Management Division covers
Mahindra Group and Non-Mahindra Group businesses. The Corporate People Movement
Division offers people logistics, mainly to IT and BPO companies. It provides clients with a
GPS based fleet to transport their employees to and from office.
With over 100 customer contracts to cater to, Mahindra Logistics operates from over 22
offices across India and has tie-ups with major national and local logistics service providers.
Mahindra Retail is an extension of the Mahindra Groups trading foray in the domestic
market in toys games and apparel under licenses from various international brands like
LEGO, Disney and Mattel, among others. The Group believes that this is the opportune time
to enter and extend its distribution business into direct retailing, when the organized retail
market is expanding in India.

The Mahindra Group's foray into Information Technology dates back to 1986 when the
flagship company of the Sector, Mahindra-British Telecom, was formed as a joint venture
with British Telecommunications plc, with the majority held by the Mahindra Group. The
Company has recently changed its name to Tech Mahindra. The Group established other
Information Technology companies in the 90s and today they cater to the entire Information
Technology services space from software engineering to product based solutions.

Mahindra Gears is a leading manufacturer of quality gears and other transmission
components in India. Set up in 1987, it now produces over 150,000 quality assured gears
every month, conforming to German specification DIN 8 to DIN 9 class of accuracy.
Mahindra Composites is a leading engineering composite solutions provider. The Company's
genesis dates back to 1982, when the Mahindra Group set an objective to provide quality

The Stampings Division of Mahindra Steel Products is a leading manufacturer of critical

After Market Sector

With the growing population of vehicles in India (6 million cars currently, expected to grow to
17 million by 2015), there is vast untapped potential in the after-market space covering multibrand pre-owned vehicles, servicing, spares, and the financial instruments and exchange
platforms which support this business ecosystem. The After-Market Sector has been created
to capture value in this space and to create in the organized Sector a business ecosystem which
mirrors the existing ecosystem for new vehicles.
This Sector comprises the following business units:
1. Mahindra Spares Business (for both Mahindra and non-Mahindra spares)
Spares Business Unit caters to the needs of the Automotive and Farm Equipment
Sectors, both in India and the overseas market
