Key processes to be followed
Check casing for damage, cracks and missing screws.
Inspect lead and plug for damage; current test tag must be attached.
Make sure that controls and pivot operate smoothly.
Ensure that handles and grips are fitted firmly, and do not move.
Ensure that guard is fitted, and is operating correctly - guard should move
easily, and spring back to original position when released.
Check suitability of blade for work to be performed.
Working area should be free from sawdust, scrap and debris.
Wear suitable hand protection when handling rough or sharp objects.
Do NOT wear loose clothing, gloves, jewellery, etc, when using saws.
Ensure that material to be cut is prevented from accidental movement.
Support and firmly clamp work pieces to prevent movement when cutting.
Saw will generate quantities of fine dust which will hang in the air, and be
breathed in and also lodge in eyes.
Circular saws will generate harmful noise levels in operation.
Fine sawdust is extremely and readily combustible.
Unplug machine before carrying out maintenance.
Place machine on firm, stable surface or bench to carry out maintenance.
Use correct (supplied) spanners and tools to undo spindle nut.
Use brush to clean dust and debris from guard, spindle and backing plate.
Ensure spindle thread is undamaged, and that backing plate sits flush.
Mount blade, washers and nut in correct order, and tighten firmly with the
correct tools and spanners.
