Sea turtles have inhabited Earth's oceans for over 200 million years. Hatchlings face many dangers on their journey from nest to shore, with 90% dying in their first year and only 1 in 1000 reaching adulthood. For over 200 million years turtles have swam the worlds oceans.
Starting out at just 6cm long these hatchlings will make the long journey
across ....... beaches to the shores where they will begin their lives.
However 90% of these hatchlings will die in their first year with only 1 in
1000 reaching adult maturity.

4,950 turtles caught by long line vessels in Indonesia alone last year
Illegal Trade and Direct Consumption
(I.e. eggs leather shell and their meat.)
Habitat Destruction
With less than 2% of our planets ocean protected from harmful factors
that not only destroy the environments of marine life but kill them.
Disease and Pollution
315,000,000,000 pounds of plastic currently in the ocean
With 100,000 sea turtle dying as a result of plastic debris consumption
And Climate Change
Warming regional temperatures could lead to long-term food depletion
and reduced turtle nesting.
Temperature also effects gender during incubation as eggs over 30
degrees tend to develop into females with eggs incubated below 28%
resulting in males. Global warming could skew these ratios resulting in a
gender imbalance.
Today there are only 7 species of sea turtle in our oceans today, with six of
these being either endangered or threatened.
