Five Returnees Among 19 Players Announced
Last season, Sockers FC narrowly missed their first postseason berth since 2009, losing a tie-breaker with the Laredo Heat for the
wild-card spot from the Premier Development Leagues Mid-South division.
Hoping to return to the playoffs this summer, the Sockers announced today the first 19 players of their 2015 squad. The list is
highlighted by several Division I athletes, including five from the University of North Carolina (the Tar Heels advanced to the NCAA
Quarterfinals for the sixth time in the last seven seasons).
Of these 19 players, five saw action with the Sockers in 2014: (forward) Tucker Hume, (defender) Walker Hume, (midfielder) Fabio
Pena, (midfielder/defender) Isaac Sanchez, and (midfielder) Scott Smith. Tucker set a Sockers single-season record last summer
with five assists, and his 13 points (4 goals, 5 assists) were the fourth-highest season mark for the Club.
In addition to UNC, other colleges represented with multiple players are: the University of San Francisco, St. Edwards University, and
Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University (all with two). Sockers head coach Matt Barnes, currently the head coach at San Francisco State
University, has also coached at Embry-Riddle. PDL rules allow a maximum of five players from any one university.

scouring the country and bringing 19 extremely talented players to West Texas.
Andrew Fox and Danny Riley are two of the most-talked about newcomers for the year.
Both feature multiple All-Heartland Conference selections on their resumes, and they have
combined to win the last three Heartland Conference Player of the Year awards (Fox in 2014
and Riley in 2012 and 2013).
The players listed here represent those cleared by the PDL; the team currently has seven
others being processed, which would put the Sockers roster at the PDL limit of 26.
