Hello! Welcome to this video tutorial on the CPS systems. At
first it may seem a little complicated, but once you get used to
it you will love the instantaneous feedback that the program
gives. This is a basic guide to CPS that will give you a good
understanding of what the program can do, and how to use it.
First thing that you will need to do will be to click on the CPS
icon on your desktop, if it is not on your desktop, click the
windows logo and find CPS in your list of programs. If a prompt
opens up on your screen like on mine, simply click Yes and
move on.
To prepare a class, click on the prepare tab, underneath click
on Classes & Students then the green plus symbol that says
New, and then click Class.
A window will pop up indicating the type of class you are
creating, select K-12 then Next, you will be directed to
enter your name and a class name, we will call this class 4th
Block. Then click, Next, Next, Done and your class is
created!
You will see your class in the left hand column. Make sure that
the class is selected and then click on the green plus symbol
that says New, click student. You will then be able to enter
the students first and last name and other identifying
characteristics such as gender, and ethnicity if you choose to
do so. Simply hit the Enter key for any additional students.
Once you have entered your students you can then create a
lesson. To do this you will want to select the Lessons and
Assessments sub-tab under the Prepare tab. Select the green
plus symbol and then select lesson. A window will open up, and
you will need to enter the identifying characteristics of the
assessment. Select Ok when finished.

Make sure that the lesson you are working with is selected on
the left hand column. Press the green plus symbol that says
New and then select question. A window will come up that
will allow you to enter the question and the choices. If you
have a different number of choices select the MC4 pull down
menu to indicate how many multiple choice questions you
have. When you are finished creating your question, select the
check box for the answer to the question.
To activate CPS and allow your students to answer the question
select the Engage tab. Select the assessment you want to
engage, then select the class you want to assess. When those
selections have been made, click the Engage button that has
the blackboard and green play symbol icon.
CPS will prompt that it is scanning for receivers, and then a
skinny toolbar will pop up on screen. Click the Engage button
and the question will pop into the whole screen.
Click Start, wait for all students to input their answer, and
then click End for CPS to give you immediate feedback.

To close out of the CPS window select the red X on the bottom
left corner, the skinny toolbar will appear again, click Close
and a prompt will appear asking you to end the session, click
Yes to go back to the main CPS screen.

To see individual student scores, click on the Report tab, then
select the very first listing as this was the last assessed set of
questions. Then select the yellow circle icon that says generate.

The CPS will open a window that is titled CPS Reporting and
will give you a myriad of options of reporting. Just for this
tutorial we will look at the Instructor Summary, which will give
you the grade for each student in your class. Explore the other
options! There are some great reports to use in class, including
a personalized study guide that your student can use to study
the questions they got wrong. The bottom screenshot shows
you what the Instructor Summary looks like.

Task Analysis
1. Click on CPS.
2. Click Yes if a window pops up.
3. Click on the Prepare tab.
4. Click on Classes & Students
5. Click the green plus symbol, New, then Class
6. Follow the prompts to create a new class.
7. Select the class on the left hand column, and then click the green plus symbol, New, then student.
8. Enter the students info, then hit the enter key to enter additional students.
9. When finished click on the Lessons & Assessments tab, then click the green plus symbol, New,
then lesson. A window will pop up, enter the assessment information then click OK.
10. Make sure the assessment is selected, click the green plus symbol, New then select Question.
11. Enter your question and choices; there is a pull down menu if you choices are less or more than 4.
12. Click on the floppy disk to save the question and click the arrow to create a new question.
13. Continue this process until you are finished with questions.
14. To engage CPS, click on the Engage tab.
15. Select the correct class and assessment, and then click the Engage button closest to where you
made your selections. Click Engage on the skinny toolbar that pops up and then Start to start the
question. Click End when all students have input their answer.
16. When all questions have been answered, click on the Red X, then click Close on the skinny toolbar,
then OK on the prompt.
17. Click on Report.

19. Click on the yellow Generate button.
20. Click on Instructor Summary, then Report
