MT InStrip Handler Overview and Safety

The MT InStrip handler provides high parallel testing of devices in substrate strips or lead frames over a full temperature range. It has 5 emergency stop buttons and uses color coding and words like "DANGER" and "WARNING" to indicate danger levels. It loads and unloads carrier plates using loader and unloader modules to transfer them between processing modules for testing and cassettes for storage.

The MT InStrip handler provides a high parallel test handling solution, designed for high parallel tri-temp

test of devices in substrate strips or lead frames over a complete temperature range.
There are 5 Emergency off button the MT Instrip handler.
There are 3 different signal words used to describe the various danger levels
"DANGER" Indicates an imminently hazardous situation that, if not avoided, will result in death or severe i
"WARNING" Indicates a potentially hazardous situation which, if not avoided, could result in death or seve
"CAUTION" Indicates a potentially hazardous situation which, if not avoided, could result in moderate or m
injury and/or in damage of the product.
The loader module loads the carrier plates from a slotted casstte to the following processing module.
The Processing Module also known as the "TEST MODULE" is the handler module wherein it processes the
carrier plates for testing.
The unloader module unloads the carrier plates from a previous processing module to a slotted casstte

Color information of the module buttons:

Line below module button WHITE: Machine status is OK
Line below module button YELLOW: Operator action required
Line below module button RED: Error
The Cassette stacks and holds the carrier plates in horizontal position before loading to the handler.
HMI stands for Human Machine Interface.
The Pick n' Place gripper transfers the carrier plates from transport unit to nest and vice versa
The arrow on the top of the cassette shows the movement of the carrier plates, out of the Cassette at the
Loader Module and into the Cassette at the Unloader Module.
To open the Loader/unloader door, press the door access green button.
The touch screen user interface serves as the operator to machine interface.
A colored green button on the HMI means that the button is ON/ACTIVE.
A Carrier Plates is a layer of engineering material that holds the units for test in uniform formation and pos
it serves as a tray.
In the Line Recipe we will see all the information needed by the handler to be used for production run.
The error messages are shown on the HMI in the Lower left corner of the Run Screen
Stracture of an error message, "11:06:08 M1 Loader 02E01006 Gap sensor might be broken"
11:06_08 is Time when error was recognized
M1 Loader is the Module where the error happened
02E01006 is the Error number
Gap sensor might be broken - Error description
Handler must be set to Service Mode to allow access to mobe motors and cylinders.
To purge the handler, Empty Run must be performed.
To run in ONLINE mode, handler should be in Standard with host mode.

The Gripper A carries the carrier plate from transport unit to nest
The Gripper B carries the carrier plate from nest to transport unit
The tower light status should be orange light only before the HMI can be started, after power up.
Test Module/Customer/Debug Modes - "No tester interface" option directory?
The Transport Lift transfers the carrier plate from transport unit to Pick n' Place gripper and vice versa
MT_InStrip handler Preventive Maintenance schedule interval is Semi-Annual
ESD stands for Electrostatic Discharge

The nominal resistance value for ESD protection are as follows:

Parts with wired GND connection = < 10
Surface hardened parts = < 100 k
Plastic parts or on plastic based parts = < 10 M
The required safety equipments when performing Preventive Maintenance are as follows:
Safety Glasses
Safety (Heat resistant) gloves
Safety Shoes
The MT_InStrip handler has 5 vision camera
A. Upward looking left (1) and right (2) camera for checking contactor fiducial, nest bottom fiducial
B. Downward looking left (3) and right (4) camera for checking carrier fiducial, nest top fiducial
C. Data Matrix (5) Camera use for reading the carrier plate 2D matrix
The power requirement for MT_InStrip handler is 208VAC /60Hz / 3 phase.
ThePreventive Maintenance Procedure Specipication number for MT_InStrip Test Handlerr is GTG00062
Preventive Maintenance is a Time based maintenance consists of periodical inspecting, servicing and clean
equipment and replacing parts to prevent sudden failure and process problems.
