These are anonymous comments from

The readings today have some interesting details to ponder. Isaiah mentions only gold and frankincense
among the gifts that come from all nations. It is Matthew who adds the
gifts of myrrh, the symbol of the future passion and death of the newborn Messiah. The magi, the wise men, must consult the revelation of
faith to find their way to Bethlehem; their own wisdom is not enough.
As we listen to Gods word now, what details stand out? How is the
Messiah revealed to us today?

The full programme for 2015 has now been sorted out and will shortly
be in the post to all the parents of the children in Year 3 in our two primary
schools. However, If your child is currently in Year 3, and is in a school other
than Our Lady of Lourdes or Guardian Angels, please let us know that you
wish to have your child on the next Sacramental Programme. Please contact
the Parish Office, either by handing-in the form below or send the details by email. Please note that children need to be registered by 7th January 2015.

THIS YEARS CRIB OFFERINGS
Once again we have chosen a specific
project to benefit from the Crib Offerings this year. Three of the children at
the Good Life orphanage are in need of
wheelchairs.
Lawrence was born with
spina bifida. He came to the orphanage in
August 2010 as a new born baby and was
not expected to survive. Against all odds
he is joining St Bernadette and Marys
School in 2015. In Lawrence's own words
he needs "a car for bringing him to school".
Michelle came to the orphanage in
April 2009 as a new born baby. Michelle
has cerebral palsy and as she weights
18kg Mama Domi struggles to carry her
around. Having a wheelchair will mean
that the other children can take her out so
she can fully interact with her siblings.
Kevoo was abandoned when he was
two years old due to his cerebral palsy and
came to the orphanage in 2012. He becomes
very frustrated due to his immobility so a
wheelchair will be a god send to both Kevoo
and the Flynn House mama.
The wheelchairs are specially made at a
local workshop which only employs disabled
staff and cost around 200 each. The children
have been measured and have had a successful trial run,
although the funds have yet to be raised. All the Crib Offerings this year will go to help providing these wheelchairs, and if there is any money left over then it will be
put towards another specific project at the orphanage.

2015 GIFT AID BOXES OF ENVELOPES
This weekend the new envelopes begin. The new ones for
2015 are available for collection at the back of Church.
Please ensure that you take the correct box, checking if
there is an initial on it, because there are several with the
same surname. If in doubt please ask.
If you would like to join the Gift Aid scheme, please see Fr
Paul at the back of church after Mass or call into the Office
2015 Salford Diocesan Almanacs are available to purchase in the Welcome & Information Room. Price 3.00 a
copy, please leave the money in the box next to the books.
Synod on the Family 2015
There are some materials at the back of Church
from the Bishops Conference of England and Wales, to
enable people to take part in the time of reflection and consultation for the Ordinary Synod of Bishops on Family Life
in October 2015.
Bishop John asked that this reflection paper be
made available in our parishes on the feast of the Holy
Family, (as they were last weekend) and that families reflect on the points within their own families. If you wish to
send him your reflections, they will then be a part of the
Salford diocese response which will go to the Bishops representing England and Wales at the Synod in October. He
did say that he cannot promise to reply to every response
sent into him! They are still available please take a copy
home with you.
