Main Image: This image is positioned in the middle Column of
this page, slightly more to the top and this makes it one of the
first features you see. The image is tilted which makes it look
more interesting as opposed to just straight and standard. Also
there is a connotation that because the subject of the picture is
touring as it is as if the image is also in movement. . The
image is bordered with a white border- This makes the image
pop out and meets the convention of having a bordered image.
The fact it is the only image is quite usual and this breaks the
convention of having around three images however it works
as the focus is on one image as opposed to many. The picture is
a medium shot and the mise en scene is a red tour bus, the
costume of this young girl is casual attire and the backing is a
clear blue sky and dry land is visible. The mise en scene gives a
notion of a chilled tour nothing too posh. The colours in the
image match the colour scheme of red, black and white this
makes everything tie in and there look more appealing.
Date: The date is situated just beneath the main
title and masthead as it is considered as
important. The date allows the audience to know
how new it is and can be useful for individuals
Sub-headings: The sub-heading on this page are: news,
radar, reviews, live! and feature. One thing that stands
out immediately is the use of punctuation on live! the
exclamation mark makes it appear like its the thing to read and
the highlight. The subheadings are backed by a black rectangle
this distinguish them as main titles and make them stand out.
The text is aligned to the left side of the rectangle as its in line
with the article titles and page numbers so everything is well
laid out here. Layout: This contents page follows the rule of thirds whereby
there are three distinct columns vertically and a more subtle
one horizontally. The column however arent equally
distributed this is because theyve made certain aspects of
this cover more bigger because its of more importance and
because more space is needed for it to work. The main content
is on the right side of the page and this is evident as theres
more things bold and structured in a particular way which grabs
interest. An image is in the middle and the text follows around
it rectangles are used to separate the main headings on the
right hand column. Overall the layout is very structures and
precise text is straight and in a section also most things are
boxed and underlined to separate the sections.
Page numbers: The page numbers are situated in
the left and the right column. On the left theyre
black and on the right theyre red. The contrast in
colour is effective in that it makes it look more
appealing. The page numbers are in the same font
as the titles which I think looks good as it
symbolises their relation to each other.
Fonts: They are a variety of fonts used on this
contents page. The sub-heading, article titles, title
and masthead remain in a dominant, bold large
font. The other contents of this page are in a
simple but clear readable font which acts as an
advantage to the audience making it comfortable
to read.
Article titles: A few examples of the article titles on here are:
brand new music. dizee rascal etc This links back with the
cover page as Dizee Rascal was the main image and now theres
an article on him which makes sense. The article titles or one or
two words this makes it straight to the point as also allows the
reader to want to know what these few words are associated
with so they go to the set page number. Each article title is
followed by a simple sentence for more of a summary on that
title. All the article titles follow the same format whereby
theyre all th same font, size, alignment and colour this gives
the contents page more consistency
Advertisement: Situated in the bottom right
corner is a rectangle in which contents the
contents of an advertisement. Its an
advertisement of another magazine to which
there offering a deal in exchange of the audience
participating in subscribing to benefit them. In
some sense it acts as a lure and advertisement.
The colours used breaks the colour scheme
showing how it is separate to the magazine. But
the colours used in this area makes this advert
stand out to the reader and so is good
advertisement.
Anchorage text : follows up the main image. The
first letter of this paragraph is large and bold this
adds a nice effect to the paragraph and makes it
appear less overwhelming. Also the large T links
to the heading touring Special as that too
begins with T so its a good connection.
